I need everybody to read this and understand what’s going on. These are spouses of US citizens in the country legally. They have entry clearance and green cards, they’ve passed background checks and have no criminal records. ICE is taking them anyway.

I don't think we're going to have a successful Amazon boycott till we break their monopoly on indie books.

They have a clever strategy to build their monopoly, which any functional government would have banned: if you want your indie book listed in Kindle Unlimited, you have to be exclusive. 🧵

The problem with ICE is not that it's targeting people who aren't criminals. The problem with ICE is that it's an unaccountable secret deportation police. It cannot be reformed under a better president. It can be made less terrible, but the instrument of repression remains for the next tyrant.

OH at Duluth coffee shop downtown:

Woman 1: “OH MY GOD, did you walk here?”

Woman 2: “Yah, I did, but I shouldn’t have…it was really slick.”

If you are a snow city and you train people to NOT walk downtown 5 months out of year, they won’t walk downtown 12 months of the year. #snowmanagement

We need to require awnings b/c rain, people can’t walk downtown in winter b/c snow, we have to have our storefront windows tinted pitch black so downtown looks like Mordor b/c sun, we can’t sit outside b/c too hot/cold…

If a local police department assists ICE in kidnapping people, are they eventually going to be held criminally liable too? Accountability must happen. We can't bend the knee to fascism and police who assist are as culpable a anyone else.

By capturing how taxable property wealth is shielded from redistributive taxation by local boundaries, we also identify specific jurisdictions—what we term “municipal tax havens” & “fiscal deserts”—where per capita property wealth is many times greater or less than their respective metro averages.

The energy transition happens often in unlikely places at unprecedented rates.

Take Nepal: Over the past year, electric vehicles accounted for 76 percent of all passenger vehicles and half of the light commercial vehicles sold in Nepal.

Five years ago, that number was essentially zero.

ICE deported a woman who owned a home in the US for 30 years. A judge banned ICE from deporting her to Sierra Leone where she had been tortured, so it deported her to Ghana, which kidnapped her and sent her back Sierra Leone anyway. ICE is part of this illegal conspiracy.
