Been re-reading Assata since news of her passing. Her autobiography is crucial for any aspiring revolutionary or rebel. She was an absolute giant & I truly dont have the words to reflect who she was or what she meant. Assata & what she embodied is our North Star, forever. One day our time will come.

Assata taught me

$coming to these meetings for a long time. After a while, a speaker climbed the podium. He welcomed me to the meeting, then gave an impassioned speech. One after another got up and gave speeches as if they were talking to a roomful of people. The others applauded loudly. I felt sad. They were such nice people, and so sincere, but their circle had grown so small they were reduced to giving speeches to each other. ASSA: I8. No movement can survive unless it is constantly growing and changing with the times. If it isn't growing, it's stagnant, and without the support of the people, no movement for liberation can exist, no matter how correct its analysis of the situation is. That's why political work and organizing are so important. Unless you are addressing the issues people are concerned about and contributing positive direction, they'll never support you. The first thing the enemy tries to do is isolate revolutionaries from the masses of people, making us horrible and hideous monsters so that our people will hate us. All we usually hear about are the so-called responsible leaders, the ones who are "responsible" to our oppressors. In the same way that we don't hear about a fraction of the Black men and women who have struggled hard and tirelessly throughout our history, we don't hear about our heroes of today. The schools we go to are reflections of the society that created them. Nobody is going to give you the education you need to overthrow them. Nobody is going to teach you your true history, teach you your true heroes, if they know that that knowledge will help set you free. Schools in amerika are interested in brainwashing people with amerikanism, giving them a little bit of education, and training them in skills needed to fill the positions the capitalist system requires. As long as we expect amerika's schools to educate us, we will remain ignorant.$

You shouldn't underestimate the government's intent on following thru on these operations. That's why lawyers saying things like "Trump can't do that! The law doesn't allow it!" is so dangerous.

Plenty of examples to pull from: 40s-50s red scare, COINTELPRO, cold war COIN, post 9/11 "anti-terror"

For years, local governments & police departments have cooperated with federal agencies through the Joint Terrorism Task Forces. Now, through Trump's new NPSM-7 directive, these task forces will focus on “leftist” groups.

History shows us what happens when our movements are targeted by the feds.

In NSPM-7, “Countering Domestic Terrorism and Organized Political Violence,” President Trump directs the Justice Department, the FBI, and other national security agencies and departments to fight his version of political violence in America, retooling a network of Joint Terrorism Task Forces to focus on “leftist” political violence in America. This vast counterterrorism army, made up of federal, state, and local agents would, as Trump aide Stephen Miller said, form “the central hub of that effort.”

NSPM-7 directs a new national strategy to “disrupt” any individual or groups “that foment political violence,” including “before they result in violent political acts.”
