what i love is that in 1990 judas priest got brought to trial over the claim that subliminal messages in the recording "better by you better than me" caused two suicides and now in 2025 openai seems to be generating a suicide a week with its superliminal messages and the US government is funding it

J'ai mal au coeur... c'est révoltant, inhumain de faire ça à ses gens totalement démunis. Ça prend au minimum des excuses de la ville et une compensation pour ce qui a été détruit.

NVIDIA has sold over $200 billion in GPUs to companies building AI services that do not make money and have no path to profitability. The expensive, hard-to-gauge costs of LLMs combined with the burdensome costs of GPUs spell disaster.

If you use GMail, AI (Gemini) was turned on yesterday by default and now scans all of your content for machine learning. To turn off, go to Settings>General and scroll down. Uncheck the box for "Smart features."

There's other "Smart" add-ons as well, but that's the one that reads your content.

15+ years old, but still VERY relevent — and if we had acted 15 years ago, the “better world” we’d be creating would be a LOT better & easier to reach. There are real consequences we’re just starting to see to not heeding this cartoon a lot sooner.

Even worse if we don’t heed it now. #ClimateCrisis

Useful info!
Wondering why no one likes your posts anymore, even among your friends? It's because @jay.bsky.team and team have decided to hide a huge amount of content from all of our feeds by default.

Here's how to turn it off.

frame: smart glasses are just like an iPhone

negation: no, they're different in important ways

kirby: THIS IS A SURVEILLANCE TOOL. THEY WANT TO NORMALIZE CONSTANT SURVEILLANCE. they are making a bad faith comparison bc they want to move the boundaries of acceptable behavior
while i appreciate @404media.co explaining this, if you ever find yourself explaining to someone why smart glasses recording people is different from a smartphone, i think you have to consider that they're playing with you, and you're playing back in turn.

you can convincingly portray this whole financialized AI edifice as a mortgage crisis-style house of cards without even mentioning that the fundamental product is unreliable, based on outright theft, and people don’t like it.

I've been working on the internet full time since about 2007. Nearly 20 years I've been up to my ass in this. To this day I don't know if anyone legitimately does No Nut November & if they do, I can't fucking understand why. I get everything, I understand the idea. I just don't believe it's real.

There's just no other place on the internet to get those, and certainly not on cable TV.

Nope, you have to keep visiting Twitter because it's the only place.

The only one.

You have no choice.

None.

You can't help it.
