The politicians who commit these crimes are overwhelmingly Republican.

I think we should pay more attention to the fact that Stephen Miller and Karoline Leavitt routinely use language about "persecuted minorities" to describe white Afrikaners even as Trump cuts off aid and refugee resettlement for *actual* victims of persecution everywhere else in the world.

Even the Atlantic can slip into the trap of adopting Trump's rhetoric. It says "Trump is delivering" on his commitment "to...cut government waste." Trump is cutting government operations, not government waste. He's not evaluating what is wasteful; he's slashing important programs—which has a cost.
