Trump Education Department cracks down on college student voting programs

Trump just said Republicans should “take over the voting and nationalize it.” That’s authoritarianism, full stop. The silence from elected Republicans is cowardice—and it’s dangerous heading into November.

President Donald Trump ordered Tulsi Gabbard, the U.S.’s top intelligence official, to take part in the FBI’s extraordinary raid on an election facility in Fulton County, Georgia, last week, the New York Times reported citing U.S. officials. www.democracydocket.com/news-alerts/...
Report: Trump directed Gabbard to take part in FBI raid on Fulton County election hub

NEW: Pam Bondi, Kristi Noem and Tulsi Gabbard inexplicably canceled their appearance at the Secretaries of State conference in D.C.

They were expected to address the administration’s attacks on voting and elections. Matt Cohen, who was on site, dives into the spectacle👇
Trump admin officials promised to address state election leaders. They bailed.
“Noem, Bondi, and Gabbard are cowards for not showing up today and answering the questions from election officials from across the country about this administration's abuses of power,” Maine Secretary of State Shenna Bellows said.

The killing of Alex Pretti and the grotesque lying was an overreach by the administration. They've paid a price and had to pull back a bit. But it's when there's some disarray that the democratic opposition needs to intensify the offensive, and turn a marginal tactical success into a major victory.

Just insane. I hope this message is spread far and wide. Democracy hangs in the balance of this chaos.
Pam Bondi just sent a letter to Minnesota officials saying ICE will leave if the state turns over its voter database to Trump.

Guess what? This has never been about safety or immigration. It’s a pretext for Trump to take over elections in swing states.

The judge in the case said that the claim was invented after the fact and was preposterous -- and deplorable.

Imagine Trump getting indicted in another country (not a stretch) and that nation grabbing him out of the White House, using this precise justification.

Just like everything else with these people (the courts come to mind) their only ideology is the raw exercise of power.
Vance pushes back and says this was not illegal, arguing "Maduro has multiple indictments in the United States for narcoterrorism. You don't get to avoid justice for drug trafficking in the United States because you live in a palace in Caracas."
