Thanking my friend for letting me paint in his garage by filling his house with many tiny paintings (and bigger ones next week hopefully!) I got a pet portrait commission as well, so enough to keep me busy for the next few weeks.

yeah sex is cool, but have you ever managed to figure out a drawing problem at 4am and reconvinced yourself you might be a somewhat decent artist after all?!

I like to think I give people a good time for their money ('bout to get back from break to sell artisanal coffee to fun nerds), but I also wouldn't call myself successful in a traditional American sense.
To be successful in America you have to be able to and willing to fool people out of their money.

I like to think I give people a good time for their money ('bout to get back from break to sell artisanal coffee to fun nerds), but I also wouldn't call myself successful in a traditional American sense.
I posted a pancake recipe a few months back, and I'm sorry but it was VASTLY INFERIOR to this one. The other one got too liquidy and needed some fluff, these ones are perfect and fluffy every time. Best I've made. All the best recipes are handwritten and passed among friends on scrap paper.

My musical theater obsession is cute when I'm singing Sound of Music in the kitchen, but then I stay in bed past my partner so I don't annoy him while I listen to the second half Assassins (I stopped on the Lee Harvey Oswald song yesterday, I was so curious...) and it seems less cute somehow.

Morning practice. Realizing that obsessively drawing circles and trying to perfect them as a kid paid off.
I've always struggled with the traditional advice with drawing heads of attaching a face and jaw to the front of a circle, so I think the next few days I want to work with that.

Ripped my most easily wearable pants on a hike with friends, and then spent the next few weeks making this unhinged patch. Was mostly curious if I could make somewhat realish sketches witg string. Delighted with the result.

As ICE continues to terrorize our communities, kidnapping our neighbors, 9 cyclists came together this morning at 6am to buyout 5 vendors and donate the food to a local shelter. They went home safe, hungry ppl were fed, this is #BikeChi ✊🏽

I haven't drawn a lot of snakes, but it's breaking my symmetry brain in such a good way. Mammals have a rigid structure so you can guess where the opposite limb is even if you can't see it. There's a reason for how a snake's body lies, but it can be so much more fluid. Love this challenge!

Becoming increasingly clear we’re gonna have to build a parallel infrastructure for all the media we really love. The reason all of this is happening under the color of law is hyperconsolidation, dissent being traded straight up for merger approval, or fear of harassment.

I have been trying to get by without a spell-checker or suggested words for six months (a year? I forget at this point). The most shocking development thus far is that learning my most common spelling mistakes has changed the way I pronounce vowels daily.

I have consumed more horrible images in the past three years than I ever have, and honestly, it's made me a worse person. Angrier, more anxious, on edge. I sometimes forget how to feel joy when good things happen. I'm aware, luckily, and stop when I've seen too much, but it leaves marks.
We’ve had wide-spread Internet gore for a while now, and mysteriously, online-poisoned mass shootings and global fascist violence just keep accelerating (even as general crime rates continue to decline).
I think there’s a serious flaw with “people need to see gore to stop being fascists” theory.

In 2007 when I was 19 and starting to date dudes on college, making an obvious 4 Chan joke was a hard pass red flag for me. I have never loved my past self harder than today.

there is a certain irony around tech bros who believe that the work of writers is largely worthless, while also claiming at the same time that they desperately need to use that written work - without compensating human authors - so they can make a bazillion dollars off LLM products.
I've spent my entire life being told that everything I do is useless, mocked and being told no one should be paid for "underwater basket weaving," and now they're like, "I must steal all the underwater basket weaving lore because it's imperative for my survival"
