Let me get this straight: the California National Guard has been federalized and deployed to Illinois.

Who will be submitting the articles of impeachment?

President Trump is bucking tradition and legal precedent in pushing to deploy the National Guard to Democratic-led cities like Portland, Oregon, and Chicago due to what he says is rampant crime and to support his crackdown on illegal immigration.

Honestly my view is kind of that if someone curses you to experience karma and it goes badly for you, that’s not really on them.

I'm not being the least bit facetious: imagery like this is vital to rebellion. Absurdity is an incredibly powerful tool. Because you know what happens when you see this?

You realize the cartoon frog ISN'T the absurd element. It only illuminates the actual ridiculousness going on.

I'm so profoundly disconnected from mainstream culture that I don't even know what my blind spots are anymore, but I can say that I've never seen either version of The Office

Never seen a full episode of Breaking Bad, Mad Men, Firefly, Succession, Parks and Rec, Abbott Elementary, 30 Rock, Walking Dead, Battlestar Galactica reboot (but watched all the original), Schitts Creek, Dexter, Lost, Chernobyl, Rick and Morty, True Detective, West Wing

Never seen Schindler’s List

Inspired by a post I just saw in which someone admitted they hadn’t seen a single episode of Friends nor the film Love Actually… what cultural hole do you have that’s a bit weird for your generation?

I’ll go first: I haven’t seen Dirty Dancing.

I'm realizing a grim exercise/prompt may be in this ...

If others want to share, I'm curious:

Why aren't *you* leaving america (yet)?

Asking for trans folks in particular, especially those of us on HRT and/or other very directly threatened in terms of our healthcare ...

Reposts welcomed. Sigh.

If i were 22, I'd maybe just bail on america. I'm 38 is the problem and I love my life here. My house, my gardens, my dogs. This is where I built my adult existence ...

as with all of this stuff, everybody's situation is going to be different. What moving abroad "means" ... what you're leaving. What you have. What you're able to leverage to do so. Whether you can even consider it, given your financial position and much else.
