My uncle, who died in 2015, had been a police/crime #author starting in the 1980s and was at me for years that I could, and should, write #fiction. When I finally tried it, he told me he liked what he’d read and that I had to keep at it. His encouragement was what I needed.😁

Good morning #5amWritersClub,

I am determined to figure out what gets our little community interacting with each other! Today's question:

What made you decide it was time to start writing a book? Was it recent, or a lifelong desire?

The US has faced nadirs before - 1777, 1864, 1932, to name just three. It managed to recover from them.

It can certainly similarly repair Trump’s damage. His may even be a catalyst for major constitutional/structural improvements. That process can truly begin in 11 months.

This gangster government steals everyone’s property and doesn’t care about the laws respecting the rights of creators. Everything they see belongs to them like the greedy leeches on this country that they are.

Just like in any authoritarian regime. First, Dear Leader appoints a nodding ass (Rubio) as the figurehead “Secretary.” Next, the nodding ass, following Dear Leader’s wishes, fires known/perceived anti-regime careerists or just makes it so unpleasant they quit. Lastly, anyone remaining is miserable.

Never before have we seen what State is being turned into under felonious idiot narcissist fascist Trump.

And shameless suck up Rubio is doing his worst to earn the title of “worst Secretary ever.”

The vast majority of career foreign service people have to want to die from sheer embarrassment.

We must not delude ourselves. Many Trump white voters plainly would have voted for him even if the felon had been president and had had the same inflation rate as Biden did. We need to face the horrible reality they just did not want to tell pollsters they wanted brown people beaten over the head.

There is no “Europe.” If he means “EU,” that is a trading area. Despite, after nearly 4 years, his vaunted forces still being unable to take even Kharkiv, Ukraine (about 40 minutes’ drive from the border with Russia), the KGB megalomaniac thinks he can also fight all of these other COUNTRIES, too:

My local bookshop needs to stock what keeps it in business, and since that is “big names” (ex. Lee Child, Daphne du Maurier), I buy them there. I buy “indie” books wherever. I won’t miss out on a good “indie” author - who is also as much a business as a shop - just because they are only on Amazon.

Trump replacing "effect" with "impact" after not being able to figure out whether it's effect or affect is honestly one of the most relatable things he's ever done. 😂

I find Rubio to be one of the most despicable of the Trump officials, precisely because I don’t think he’s a sociopath; I think he has the moral intuition to realize that what he is doing is unconscionable

Insofar as we know Trump himself has no professional qualification whatever. He’s not an MBA, MA, MS, PhD, DR, JD, CPA, etc., or a retired military officer. He just inherited his old man’s “property business.” He’s never even had a real estate license (which any agent who sells a house in NY has).

Mexico, the Caribbean, down to Panama, yes. (Panama, including especially in 1989, seems the closest.) But if the Trump regime invades Venezuela, that truly seems historically new. Has the US military ever (since 1776) outright invaded a mainland South American country? (I checked Wiki and nothing.)

Stop saying, "They'll never impeach him." Low expectations grant them permission to continue to do nothing. (Which is a relief to them.)

Demand integrity. Expect better of them. Require them to do their jobs and honor the oaths they swore.

Stop giving them permission.

THEY. ARE. LISTENING.

All available evidence suggests that the Trump administration’s lethal strikes in the Caribbean constitute murder, plain and simple.

Back in 1787-88, some of the founders foresaw this very thing. George Mason would almost certainly not be shocked by the felonious Trump’s corrupt misuse of pardons. Mason writes here in objecting to the presidential pardon power:

This is no morally f-cking different than the Japanese destroyer crew that “rescued” two U.S. shot down airmen they found on a raft during the 1942 Battle of Midway, and not long after murdered them by tying them to filled water drums and shoving them overboard.

I unfollowed the London embassy (where I’d been several times) shortly after Jan 20. Its socials suddenly were no longer our diplomatic representatives focusing on the well-being of ALL Americans and posts discussing serious diplomacy. Overnight it became a Trumper mouthpiece spewing crap like this.
Wow, this is a load of bullshit.

Yes, Trump is worse—and it’s not even close. Here’s why. 🧵

He should just have said “the most felonious president” and he would have been factually unassailable in any court.
NEWS --> BBC confirms to me that they did edit a line out of historian @rutgerbregman.com's speech. It called Trump "the most openly corrupt president in US history."

BBC also confirms this was done on the advice of lawyers. So Trump's threats worked.

First, British Broadcasting Corporation execs resigned after Trump complained about a segment. Now the BBC edited out a line from a historian that was critical of Trump. Where does this end?
