What do you think the odds are that some room in the WH had ketchup on the wall at some point today?
It’s also so, so clear that Trump cares a *lot* that people are protesting him in such large numbers.
My timeline has been full of the protests all day, and the first mention of violence has been from ICE. That could almost be seen as significant.
Federal officers pepper ball protestors at Portland ICE facility just now.
Ah. My memory of Silent Sham isn’t as detailed as my memory of the Threadnaught. Which makes sense, since the Threadnaught was a kind of mobius strip where the same things seemed to happen over and over.

They'll cast these rallies as "angry" but everyone there is plainly having a great time because it's fun to get together with like-minded people to engage in the oldest American tradition: telling a tyrant to eat shit
That would have been awkward.
They were tied to Silent Sham. Not sure about Bojangles.

Take note of all these people turning out for protests in small towns in red states.

Remember them the next time you’re inclined to write an area off because “they voted for this.”

this rocks. when indiana edu killed the student newspaper, Purdue stepped up, printed the forbidden issue, drove it to Bloomington and stocked the boxes.

The imagery here shows you why Mike Johnson & co. have been SO DESPERATE to peddle that "they hate America" nonsense. They think they can wipe their asses with the Constitution but claim the mantle of patriotism as long as they wave enough flags at the rubes. They're terrified of the real thing.
Just checked the top of all the major networks’ sites (plus CNN), and all of them – CBS included – are currently leading on No Kings.

In lieu of alt-text:

Protest sign reading “FIRST THEY CAME FOR THE IMMIGRANTS AND I SPOKE UP BECAUSE I KNOW THE REST OF THE GOD DAMN POEM”

Must have taken a wrong turn on the way to the “Hate America rally”; all I see are American flags & signs promoting the Constitution, liberty, & democracy.
Will the number of people showing up make Trump change ? No (though he will *hate* it). Is it worthwhile, just to show all of the people who agree with the protest that they are not alone, at all? Absolutely.
I’ve got a fever, so I’m staying home to avoid infecting anyone. From my couch, I can hear people driving by the “sign wave” line a block away, honking their horns. It’s giving me life.
Is politics weighing on you? Does it ever make you feel alone, like "everyone" is on board with awful things and "no one" cares (or close)?

Then you should go to a No Kings protest. That feeling isn't uncommon, but it's a trick. Go be around some of the many people who agree with you. You'll see.
Not common enough to be a trope, but I “love” when they zoom in on a low-res image of a person, to see what they were looking at, reflected on their eyeball. 🤦‍♂️
I saw that one in real time. It was *wild*.
Yes, watching Rollins cross-examine that guy literally to death was a high point. As was Stewart defending him to the other partners for doing it.

President Trump reduces trade surplus in profitable export industry that provides middle-class jobs all across America.
New federal data has revealed a 19% year-on-year decline in international students entering the US in August 2025, including a 45% drop from India, America’s largest sending country. thepienews.com/internationa...
International student arrivals to the US fall by 19%
The US recorded a 20% drop in student visa arrivals this August, though the full picture remains unclear amid contradictory datasets.

Yes. Also, we should have many fewer elected offices at state and local levels.
Congressional earmarks were a good thing.
Do you have any extremely niche, but serious, ethical stances?

this white house actively treats a large swath of americans as disloyal and outside the political community and it doesn’t merit so much as a peep from the political press
Leavitt: "The Democrat Party's main constituency is made up of Hamas terrorists, illegal aliens, and violent criminals."
I would like to cite history and tradition of the textual interpretation of language. I’m not on SCOTUS, though, so I’m not allowed to make that stuff up as I go along. You have bested me, and I surrender. 😜
Don't lawyers have a duty of candor, though? I'd think the most accurate one-word response, by a wide margin, would be "spite" (complementary).

There's literally no reason for Congress to exist if any random freak in the presidential orbit can nullify laws and seize federal funds. All of this is plainly illegal, but Mike Johnson leads the most corrupt Congress in US history (and by a wide margin.)
