I've begun the 2nd book in my stupid little series, because I was stuck on the first one. Some chapter titles:

The High Priests

The Time of Monsters

The Paper Daughters

At the Crossroads

The Box in the Mountains

They Who Dream Alone

A Savage Place

The Struggle of Nations

The Dust of Empire

This makes me think of the train tracks in Spirited Away if the ocean were drained.

I think I’m within striking distance of at least the main ending of Hades II. Like with the original, though, the real question is what will I do for fun after this is over? It’s a tough act to follow.

Red Dead Revolver, huh? It woulda kinda suck to get one sequel away from glory.

Isn’t this true of all so-called genre fiction?
rme33.bsky.social
This is, I’d argue, true of a lot of stuff written before the 20th century. I tried to read both Frankenstein and The Hunchback of Notre Dame and bounced right off of both.

It’s fine to get your Shakespeare from the movies. Actual Shakespeare can be very hard to read for modern audiences.

Christopher Columbus would cut off the hands of natives who didn’t bring him enough gold, and make the offending native wear the hand around their neck as a warning to others who might dare to not get him enough bling.

Anyway, happy Indigenous People’s Day!

*Hades II spoilers*

YES! EAT SHIT, MR. KING OF ALL MONSTERS! More like king of all losers, amirite?

If they lay me off, perhaps another country will hire me. I hear Greece is nice.

Apparently, the term “dentistry” goes all the way back to the ancient Mesopotamians, and I find that entirely fascinating. I also guess stone age people didn’t experience a lot of tooth decay because they didn’t eat a lot of sugar. Good for them, I suppose, but that’s a crap tradeoff if you ask me.

I’m learning how ancient people groomed themselves. I don’t know why. We may have to accept that I just have an information fetish.

My next song is called Fuck the Dodgers and honestly just consists of those three words over and over again for four minutes.

Having lived around the very religious all my life, they’re simply going to interpret this as evidence of his endless humility.

Trump: "I don't think there's anything that's gonna get me in heaven. I think I'm not maybe heaven bound. I may be in heaven right now as we fly on Air Force One. I'm not sure I'm gonna be able to make heaven."

I figured the Daedalus one would be something fucked up. I looked it up, and it was…disappointing.

Yes, I am aware Tron: Legacy made a modest profit after all promotional costs were considered, but it was nowhere near enough to justify another expensive sequel.
rme33.bsky.social
As much as some people would like to believe otherwise, Jared Leto is not going to be the reason Tron: Ares fails. Most average people have no opinion at all about Jared Leto. It’s going to fail because Tron is a cult film that never should have tried to be a franchise. That’s the only reason.

I usually find myself aligning with Ebert on everything except video games, but if I can find it I’ll def give it a shot.

Apparently I’ve not seen any of Diane Keaton’s major performances outside of The Godfather. Allen’s style just never really clicked with me, so I never watched Annie Hall. I didn’t even know of a movie called Reds until today. I guess I have some homework.

There are reports that the *entire* office of special education at the US Dept of Education has been cut. These hardworking folks ensure kids with disabilities get equal access to a quality education.

America’s children deserve better than this.

The third season of Invincible ended at around issue 60 of the comic book. If we assume that the show will continue to adapt the series at a rate of about 20 issues a season, we could be here a while.
