I've begun the 2nd book in my stupid little series, because I was stuck on the first one. Some chapter titles:

The High Priests

The Time of Monsters

The Paper Daughters

At the Crossroads

The Box in the Mountains

They Who Dream Alone

A Savage Place

The Struggle of Nations

The Dust of Empire
Even if this is true, Larian, every time you push the button to generate one of those ghoulish, shambling husks, you’re thrusting another dagger into the heart of the planet. You are ShinRa from Final Fantasy VII.

Re watch! RIP Mr. Reiner

MAGA is not betting that trashing Rob Reiner is a winning political strategy for them. They aren’t thinking in terms of what is good for them. They are simply like this. This is who they are: rabid dogs who are not only incapable of human decency, but also incapable of not being actively awful.

My first was Jim Henson. I was quite young. It was as if Kermit himself had died. That introduced me to the idea that famous people COULD die.

As an adult, Roger Ebert, Ray Bradbury and Anthony Bourdain did the most damage.

Every writer who generates a slop image for their work is a class traitor.

"I can't afford a visual artist"

So your solution is stabbing artists in the back? Stealing from them?

Furthermore, slop-generated imagery suggests slop-generated writing. That's how you're presenting yourself.

A Costa Rican way of expressing frustration (similar to “for fuck’s sake”) is me cago en todo lo cagable. It means “I shit on everything that can be shitted on.” I guess you could also translate it as “I shit upon all that is shittable.”

I didn’t read anything about this, but it doesn’t matter. It’s already one of my most anticipated 2026 movies, anyway.

Entire generations will never know the joy of sifting through a dusty spinner rack full of crumbling short story collections in a hole-in-the-wall used bookshop, and we will all be poorer for it.

Should have brought a tissue to this one, because it’s rare to see grief so well-expressed. Mescal is effective, but it’s Buckley who is transcendent, at times steely and at others fragile. The film is visually beautiful and makes a distant part of history seem real and present in our own lives.

No one’s rich like Gaston
That’s the pitch for “Gaston”
No one’s complex and tragic yet kitsch like Gaston
He’s a circle that begs to be squared
It’s a tentpole, a four-quadrant hit
Yes his backstory’s moving and layered
And it’s starring a CGI de-aged Brad Pitt

Just a reminder: don’t repost Trump’s disgusting remarks about Rob Reiner. Don’t link articles about it. Don’t quote it, not even to rage at it. He is a sad, pathetic little man who craves attention. Deny it and he’ll collapse.

So is The Princess Bride just a millennial thing? Because I notice many news outlets are leaving it out of Reiner’s Greatest Hits reel, and for me, at least, that is THE movie among his oeuvre.

Incredible timing that Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried are co-starring in a movie when the former's press quotes are like "I Googled racism last night and it turns out it's a thumbs down" and the latter's are like "Voltaire said we must strangle the last king with the bowels of the last priest”

I’m just having a little fun at you all’s expense here, but when someone says their favorite movie is something insanely popular like Star Wars or Lord of the Rings, I DO tend to wonder if they’ve seen other movies.

Are comics and video games now the best bet if you want to take a really wild swing with a new concept? That’s nuts if true, because both mediums are notorious for being hard to get into, easy to fail at and having tight profit margins. If most popular artistic ideas are there, that’s precarious.

I fear I’ve made it as far as I’m going to in Donkey Kong Country Returns without invoking Super Kong to pass an especially annoying stage. Most stages have brilliant design, but any one-hit-and-you’re-dead stages, mostly mine cart ones, get annoying fast. I did get through 3 worlds by myself.

the line is actually "no JESUS for us meeses," an oblique reference to the fact that, as muppets are unable to take communion, they are forbidden from entering the kingdom of god

Actually, if you look around, you’ll probably find a shop that sells disgusting sodas from all over the country. I have one near me where you can get mustard and bbq wing flavors. God bless America!
Every state in the United States has a disgusting soda that only they know about and that’s kind of beautiful
