Today is the Feast of Our Lady od Sorrows, which is a public holiday in Slovakia. Lots of museums, galleries, shops and restaurants (in decreasing amounts) are closed. I didn't know that before coming here, so it's true that travel broadens the mind.

Note to self. When using Google translate to help with simple expressions on a visit to Bratislava, make sure that you don't accidentally select "Slovene" in place of "Slovak ".

I'm really not sure about this new Bagpuss thing. I mean,I'm not against new adaptations of classic children's tv: Paddington 1&2 were great; Thunderbirds worked OK, as did Captain Scarlet. But they worked because there was no attempt to move them outside their settings.

I'm now on a train heading to Köln. The 20 minutes connection time in Brussels was far less daunting than getting from Paddington to St Pancras.
