New Brunswick is built on a foundation of two deportations.

The Acadian deportation in 1755 and the Loyalist deportation in 1783. The big difference is that, of course, the Loyalists showed up here and were established by the British as the dominant force in the colony.
En ce jour en 1783:

«Les forces britanniques quittent New York, ce qui met fin à l’évacuation de près de 30 000 loyalistes jusqu’à ce jour réfugiés au Nouveau-Brunswick et en Nouvelle-Écosse.»

Two.
There are 50,000 food insecure children in Maine and 2 trans athletes. Every single candidate running for office who can drum up concern about the latter but has nothing to say about the former is telling on themselves. They don’t care about children. Only power. And they’ll hurt kids for it.
25 Nov 2025 @rikiwilchins.bsky.social -- In unusual move, Sen Susan Collins (R-ME) signs petition for referendum on the 2026 ballot that would bar trans students from sports teams, locker-rooms and bathrooms. She's in a hotly contested election & this is pbly one way to increase Rep turnout.

You know how there are some historical reenactment museum areas where you can go and see people dressed old timey churning butter and making horseshoes? There should be one that's a bar and kids can go listen to reenactors complain about their city's sports teams from different decades

this isn't my top 10, but here's a list of the funniest movies I've ever watched:

Death of Stalin
The Hangover
Dumb and Dumber
What About Bob?
There's Something About Mary
Old School
Borat
Superbad
Caddyshack
Happy Gilmore
Austin Powers
Tropic Thunder
Elf
The movie listed at #1 is so incredibly misplaced that it calls into question the veracity of the entire list. It belongs on the list, yes, but SO MUCH further down. An absolute, credibility-wrecking flub. Boo, @variety.com! Boo!

This list is trying so hard to be intelligent and classy with their picks. No Dumb and Dumber. No Hangover. No There's Something About Mary. If you're trying to be all artsy and high falutin' and you still didn't list the Death of Stalin, you've failed on that front too. I'd have that in the Top 10.

These American senators seem to think the main issue in Canada with respect to the United States are the tariffs, as if their President didn't make repeated threats to annex our country, and destroy our economy if we didn't let him do so.

Canada is run by a banker who plays hockey
I hate how every nation is living down to its stereotype because I’m trained to look for complexity in things, yet the USA is run by a caricature of crony capitalism that Soviet propaganda would consider too unsubtle, Russia is run by a Bond villain, the UK is speedrunning Children of Men, etc.
