Ad agency was hoping their target audience were fans of the classif Whoopi Goldberg computer hacking movie Jumpin’ Jack Flash (1986)?

It raised $30MM from investors and sold for OVER $40MM! That sort of rocketship track record shows exactly why the meritocracy of Silicon Valley investors is to be trusted.

Just calculated that based on their hourly rates, I spent $84 this week discussing with my therapist and my psychiatrist our opinions of the new Taylor Swift album.

(Which I take as strong signal that I have the right mental health team supporting me)

You can’t hate fascists and use AI slop generators. They’re the same thing: total destruction of truth at scale.

Somewhere in Sarah’s replies I saw the example that Tim Walz acting normal and calling Trump weird was pretty damned successful. But then the consultants and handlers arrived and forced him into the aura farming route.

The Verge’s refusal to “stick to sports” is resulting in some of the best political writing in America. This post provides in 5 minutes something that an Adam Curtis doc covering this time period would take six hours to convey.

$50/year is a BARGAIN for a @theverge.com subscription.

Solidarity with all trans and intersex people having their existence debated every time a tv host hasn't done their prep and can't think of any more questions

TBH, if there aren't folks in inflatable frog costumes protesting Dreamforce next week, SF will be letting me down.

I mean, Benioff is already responsible for the descending hoards of polo-shirt-and-khakis-wearing bozos next week for Dreamforce, so it's a toss-up for which invasion of San Francisco would be less desirable.

Stole this meme from @ethanmarcotte.com recently. I’ve been using it a lot.
looking forward to another week where all the stuff I want to accomplish depends on a sense of self discipline and executive time management I have never once possessed in my life

(And, again for clarity, this was observed at a previous job. There's a reason I'm not still there!)

• "The Aristocrats!"
rod.begbie.com
• No-one can honestly say how much AI is helping/hindering, but they do it to keep the CEO happy.
• Oh, and at the same time API platform providers like Google/Amazon/Microsoft put out attention-grabbing stats that suggest "if you're paying engineers and they're not using AI, you're a chump"
rod.begbie.com
• CEO cherry-picks stories, tells board "Yes, we're doing lots of AI stuff and it's great" to keep them happy.
• Investors go to next meeting and say "All our other companies are doing great stuff with AI. You should too or you'll fall behind"
• Next CEO feels pressure and pushes down to their team.

My observation:

• CEO sees way wind is shifting. Starts pitching as an "AI" startup as way to raise next round of funding
• Folks invest in startup because they're already heavily invested in AI platforms and want more usage of them.
• Investors on board start putting pressure on CEO to do more AI.
