Ali Teymoori and I wrote up a piece for @markrubin.bsky.social's excellent Critical Metascience blog. We summarise our new paper on disciplinary crises in psychology and some of the key take-homes for psychologists.
“Methodological and administrative solutions are valuable, but they are not enough. Rather, we need to engage with the epistemic processes and ideals at the heart of psychological knowledge production and engage very closely with critical perspectives...”

Psychology’s Recurring Crises: Lessons from History and Philosophy of Science
We examine what generated crisis discussions, how they tended to unfold, and how they were resolved. And we derive some lessons from history for the current replication crisis.

We've all heard about the replication crisis in psychology. But psychologists have been calling "crisis" for as long as the discipline has been around. Ali Teymoori and I look at this history and what it means for today's crisis. #philsky doi.org/10.1177/1089...

Inequalities in the funding landscape are actually a major barrier to OA publication. The author-pays model for OA means only those with access to resources get their research out there for all to read for free. OA should become truly open, for authors too! #OpenScience
Always fascinating to see people still publishing non-OA articles. Didn't your funder stipulate OA outputs (or did you have the luxury of unfunded research)? Don't you need to put together a REF submission? I know that not every employer will agree to pay but it seems such a strange choice.

I especially appreciate the policy to not accuse people of using AI in the comments thread, but to contact the editor instead. The same should apply in peer review.

More evidence of the benefits of lottery elements in funding.
'The new procedure required applicants to submit only an expression of interest...before 500 were selected, via lottery, to submit a full proposal for peer review....the number of female applicants increased 10 per cent, while the number of funded projects by women rose by 23 per cent.' 2/2
