2025 has been an incredible year for Gleam adoption, but sadly not for funding, with GitHub sponsorship dropping ~10%. It's not a disaster as we're careful with finances, but it's not a good trend.

hot maybe cold take: if your personal website has a loading screen, you've absolutely over-built. yeah sure you can use whatever bloated black-box react SSR framework to build the next tinder, but when your basic blog or docs page gives me a loader for more than 3 seconds you've screwed up

I love how Deutsch wikipedia always has the best information about public infrastructure. It's especially funny when the german page for something in England has more information than the english page.

as much as I love philosophy tube I feel like everyone knows that 'Indians' is not an ok word to use to describe native people? I haven't watched the video yet and I'm not a native person but I don't see how that word could be used in a good way?

I've just gotta get off my chest how much I hate the layout of north american cities. idk about you but I like being able to work out what city I'm looking at by the layout of the roads alone, and not some soulless grid.

I hate youtube's new auto dubbing feature cause I can't seem to be able to turn it off sometimes and it just sounds ass. if I'm watching a german language interview I don't want some annoying as hell american voiceover which isn't even in sync when I can just turn on subtitles.

As much as I dislike the AI features in jetbrains IDEs, I do appreciate that there is a "Disable permanently via plugin" shortcut in the little context menu for the AI logo. wish more platforms did this.

I'm so sick of seeing accounts like "X against trump" or "Down with MAGA" post copious amounts of AI slop. like you can't win by using the enemy's tools.
