As @raeoflion.bsky.social and I wrote in this article featuring Rae's video:

A report from the California Health Care Foundation found that 10 percent cut to HCBS programs would lead to $1 billion more in Medicaid spending in the state... due to the greater overall costs of institutionalization.
Medicaid-funded services are their lifeline—and make their work possible. But the Trump cuts to the program could change it all.

Meet Audrey and Jeremy, who went viral for talking about how the GOP's Medicaid cuts could devastate their everyday.

I got my updated Covid-19 vaccine today at CVS in Los Angeles! I just had to self-attest to having a high risk condition. It was free with insurance.

To illustrate the state of life in America right now:

Several journalists who were bleeding and needed stitches because of assaults by LAPD drove around to urgent care facilities only to find them closed, then wavered on going to emergency rooms because of high costs of treatment there.

10. The insurance model is a rationing system. ‘Coverage’ is a euphemism for controlled scarcity. They don’t just decide what care you get—they decide if you’re worth the cost.

9. Disability politics asks: what would an economy look like if keeping each other alive was the highest value? Not GDP, not productivity—but the refusal to abandon anyone. Disability pride is also a revolution in how we define wealth.

1. Disability is a site of class struggle because it exposes the lie of meritocracy. We show that survival isn’t earned—it’s organized, or it doesn’t happen at all.

PSA: There’s a difference between wearing a mask or respirator & wearing a gaiter or face covering to disguise identity. It’s important to discern & communicate this nuance because if you don’t, you might encourage elected officials to ban masks for everyone, which would be a public health disaster.

I attended a meeting today virtually and the focus was on how to gum up the works on a particular part of the murder bill. Just want to remind us all that there are probably 50 such meetings happening across the country. Perhaps you can call your own meetings too.

Hi friends. The "big brutal bill" passed the Senate today. We expect the House to vote tomorrow. This bill is an enormous transfer of wealth from the masses to the wealthiest few. It takes away health care & food from millions of people to give tax cuts to billionaires and to fund ICE's terror.

My daughter relies on Medicaid.

We don't "get" Medicaid.
We don't receive a check from Medicaid.

Medicaid covers her life-saving medical expenses.
Medicaid is health insurance.
Medicaid is health care.

That's what Medicaid is.

And that's why we need our senators to #VoteNo and #ProtectMedicaid.

Look, at the risk of bringing facts to a vibes fight, but... the eligibility threshold for Medicaid is not the same as the Federal poverty line, so yes, there are going to be more people who qualify. Quick breakdown below...
