I spoke w a reporter this morning about Kimmel. (Reporter was / is great) They got back to me a short while ago to say they sought White House comment & WH demands to know first which experts they spoke with. I told reporter I'm happy to be quoted IN THE STORY but 1/x

KEY to the story about ABC suspending Kimmel's show: Nexstar and Sinclair, two big owners of ABC-affiliated stations, both need FCC approval for pending deals. With a lot of $$ on the line, both have reason to curry favor with the Trump admin. Both decided to yank Kimmel's show.

I'm horrified to hear that Charlie Kirk was shot at an event in Utah.

Democratic societies will always have political disagreements, but we must never allow America to become a country that confronts those disagreements with violence.

Mark and I are praying for Charlie's recovery.

🚨BREAKING: We filed a lawsuit in California state court against OpenAI for defective product design and wrongful death after ChatGPT encouraged and aided a 16-year-old California boy’s suicide — including by providing detailed instructions on how to hang himself in the final hours of his life. 🧵

The exchanges between Adam and ChatGPT are devastating. This, in my mind, is the worst one.

One of his last messages was a photo of the noose hung in his bedroom closet, asking if it was "good." ChatGPT offered a technical analysis of the set up and told him it 'could potentially suspend a human."

Since April 4, #SCOTUS has issued 15 rulings on 17 emergency applications filed by Trump (three birthright citizenship apps were consolidated).

It has granted relief to Trump ... in all 15 rulings.

It has written majority opinions in only 3.

Today's order is the 7th with no explanation *at all.*
Here we go again: Over an acerbic dissenting opinion by Justice Sotomayor (joined in full by Justices Kagan and Jackson), #SCOTUS, with no explanation, grants a stay in the Department of Education RIFs case—effectively clearing the way for the Trump administration to dismantle much of the agency:

Thinking a lot lately about how the bar has moved even lower for transparency - from “who wrote/said/did what” to “is it even a person?”

And this occurs in all sorts of scenarios and industries - customer service chat, journalism, law, and policing.
BIG NEWS: After a long investigation we have uncovered that Axon's Draft One--a program that uses genAI to write police reports based on body-worn camera audio--is *designed* not to retain the data on which parts were written by an officer and which parts were written by AI. A looming disaster.

1 in 5 Montanans rely on medicaid. Reading estimates that 31,000 Montanans alone will lose their healthcare because of the BBB. Not to mention the $5.4B that our rural hospitals could lose. Daines, Sheehy, Zinke, and Downing this is on YOU.

I don’t think anyone is prepared for what they just did w/ ICE.

This is not a simple budget increase. It is an explosion - making ICE bigger than the FBI, US Bureau of Prisons, DEA,& others combined.

It is setting up to make what’s happening now look like child’s play. And people are disappearing.

Red alert for the big bill blocking state tech laws!

There’s a new draft of the AI moratorium and it’s WORSE. The exceptions narrowed so “generally applicable” laws only survive if they do not create an “undue OR disproportionate burden” on AI. This creates huge uncertainty for which laws survive.

I mean, if everything is going in the shitter, there’s no reason to have anti-gay people have all the fun; start making religious objections to all sorts of stuff. The Ten Commandments getting put into class all over, for instance. That’s at least 40% religious orthodoxy.
SCOTUS, by Justice Alito, holds that it violates the religious exercise of parents for public schools to have LGBTQ+-inclusive storybooks without allowing parents to opt-out their children from seeing them.
