2026-08. Why your five year old could not have done that, by Susie Hodge - 3.5/5
Subtitled "modern art explained", interesting book about different works, but the title is misleading because the reasons end up being the thought process/imagery behind the work rather than the actual technique

Body image is a well-trodden discussion topic, but I think my perspective as a young cancer survivor gives me a slightly different angle on it all.

Yes, this! Ever since I've found out about this true story I get really annoyed at any Lord of the Flies mention, because people are way better than that, and we should focus on good things.

2026-07. Lies Sleeping, by Ben Aaronovitch - 4/5
Book 7 of the "Rivers of London" series, which is one of the very few urban fantasy series I like. This was a great ending (is it??) to the Faceless Man 7-book plot.

That doesn't mean there aren't things we can do as individuals to help, but it does mean that we can be a bit kinder to ourselves when we're struggling with the fact that, just for example, the most powerful people in the world are all absolute wrong'uns and literally nothing will happen about that.

🏫What on Earth is going on with Oxford
👽Where the conspiracy theories have come from

And then we’ll look at the Telegraph article

Nothing on UK news about the horrid storm that devastated Portugal 😢
Minute 1'126" on the video is truly impressive, I think... (by the way, that's windgusts of 125mph). And it doesn't show the flooding that's widespread across the country, with dams overflowing.

Fantastic! So many old british legends in the plot, characters are still amazing. It's grittier than book 1 and there are several instances of "oh no!" shouted out loud, but it does have a perfect ending🥰

Poland is crushing it with 160% growth in EV sales, and Türkiye just zoomed past Norway to become Europe’s #4 EV powerhouse! Diesel is also dying a deserved death -sales in Türkiye alone halved in 2 years

The "EV slowdown" is a myth peddled by fossil fuel dinosaurs
