2025-46. Utterly British maps, by Helen McKenzie - 3/5
Very interesting and quirky maps, but very short!

Impossible how good reading is. You mean I just point my face at the paper for a bit and it does a whole update on my brain?

2025-45. This Book Will Change Your Mind About Mental Health, by Nathan Filer - 4/5
Mainly focused on schizophrenia, it presents a vivid picture of the arguments surrounding mental illness, both from examples from patients and his own experience as a mental health nurse.
It made me think a lot...

Throwback to when I added more sound fx to make this worse.

I love your reviews, they're so funny 😄
Honestly, I only watch Game of Wool now to laugh and commiserate with the poor contestants, because that is as far from "real knitting" as something can be 🙄
#GameOfWool
I recapped Holiday Week on #GameOfWool: ariadnereviews.com/2025/11/20/g... a cuirass for a jester, Yasmin Harper's feminist performance art, Isaac's cottagecore lesbian potential and an accidental 12 seconds of Line of Duty.
Game of Wool 2025, Episode 3: Rock Climbing Glamour Pants
the eternal question of this show. This one’s for you, Yasmin Harper.

I've just watched the first episode, and it's so good!
David makes history come alive and this made me think a lot... I'm always surprised by the sheer audacity of some people, claiming land and actual people as their own, all in the name of profit. 😥
My new series - Empire With David Olusoga - starts 9pm on BBC Two. Whole series on @bbciplayer.bsky.social from tonight.

Is this what Labour politicians came into politics for?

To get cheered on by Tommy Robinson as they kick some of the most vulnerable people on earth?

How are they not all dying of shame

2025-44. The Enduring Universe, by Kritika H. Rao - 5/5
Fantastic end to an underrated trilogy!
Science-fantasy full of physics, (Hindu) philosophy, engineering, love and community, a study on consciousness, middle-age marriages/couples, disability acceptance and change, and oh so much more!

2025-43. Maps, annotated, a DK edition - 3/5
A monster of a book I asked for at the library without seeing it, haha, it's basically an illustrated history of maps.
Interesting, but far more detailed than my general interest warrants.

I have today off work.
I slept 10 hours straight (minus a quick trip to loo) plus 1 hour of dozing 😶
I guess my body really needed the rest...
And since the weather is ghastly, I'm not going out and I'll be reading and watching TV for the rest of the day 😀

The latest entry in @marklawrenceauthor.bsky.social 's blog is very interesting, about worldbuilding and the existence of several volumes of canon behind each book.
I agree with his conclusion that readers only care about 'feeling' that the background is there, it doesn't mean that it must exist

A couple of months ago I didn't renew my subscription to a news/political magazine, it was messing with my mind, unfortunately. Instead, I subscribed to Positive News and what I read actually gives me calm.
This is one of their great stories:

I might pop over to Sheffield soon 😄
It blows my mind that there are real people who see a post like this and actually believe the whole “Christmas is being cancelled by Muslims” BS 🙄

Let’s have a quick look at what’s happening to Sheffield so you can put your Express reading uncle’s mind at ease!😆
