Baseball stats, trivia, and other useless info, mostly about the Phillies.
Pinned
With win #666 😬, the #Eagles' combined record is over .500 for the first time in their 92 year history:
791 #Phillies have homered in the franchise's history.

With a stable roster recently, only 3 new hitters have been added to that list in each of the last 2 years.

The last time they've had back to back years with so few additions to the HR list?

Yesterday's, belatedly:
There were 4️⃣9️⃣ days until #Phillies Opening Day.

Rob Thomson needs 4️⃣9️⃣ wins to tie Arthur Irwin (the manager of the 1890s Phils teams) for 2nd most by a Canadian manager in MLB history (incl. the postseason).

When the 2026 season ends, Justin Crawford will be 22 years and 257 days old.

If he gets say 500+ plate appearances, he'll be the first #Phillies OF to play that much by that age, since Greg Luzinski 53 years ago.

Every other league’s attempt at an All-Star game is further proof that MLB’s is the only one worth actually having.

Additionally, Devers has an excellent eye, with the 11th-best zone-ooz swing rate last year, while Arraez had the 2nd-worst.

Just weird profiles individually, and the juxtaposition is mostly very different, except they're both tops at making the same contact OOZ as they do in-zone.

I'm very amused by the Luis Arraez - Rafael Devers right side of the infield for the Giants.

Minimum 550 PAs (yes, cherry-picking) they are #1 and #2 last year in the smallest difference between in-zone and out-of-zone contact rate. But Arraez was #1 in zone contact while Devers was dead last.

When the Phillies win their 5️⃣4️⃣th game, assuming Rob Thomson is still at the helm he'll become the 6th manager in franchise history with 400+ regular season wins.

Happy Bob Ferguson Day!

Born 181 years ago today (1845), Ferguson was the first person ever born who would go on to play for the #Phillies.

Nearing the end of a long career, he manned 2B for the Phillies in their inaugural season of 1883.

Fun fact:

If/when Schwarber hits 13 HRs this year, and Harper hits 21, #Phillies will be the 2nd team in history (1st in NL history) with 12+ players having hit 200+ HRs for them.

The Yankees (18) are the only other one.

I just got an advance copy of @justinklugh.bsky.social’s new book. The first line says:

“At the New York World’s Fair in 1939, you could buy a hot dog for 10 cents and a tongue sandwich for 15.”

Needless to say, I am excited to read this book.

The Phillies had agreed to Bo Bichette’s request for a 7-year, $200 million deal last night and believed they would sign him until the Mets swooped in with their 3-year, $126 million offer after losing out in in the Kyle Tucker sweepstakes.

7️⃣0️⃣ days until #Phillies Opening Day.

When Bryce Harper plays in his 7️⃣0️⃣th game, for the first time he will have played in more games with the Phillies (928) than the Nats (927).

Nats: 184 HR, .900 OPS
Phils: 179 HR, .912 OPS
