early returns are that Pham faced a league-average collection of pitchers per DRA/cFIP basically on the button. Also that the spread for DRA- is ~97-103, so just not a substantial gap, broadly speaking.
I guess one bit of follow up I'd like to see from the pham piece is whether the Pirates (or Pham) were really at a deficit i/r/t quality of pitcher faced? I get that PIT had the highest average leverage index or w/e, but I'd be curious to see what (if any) gap actually exists on opponent quality

WAM had @robarthur.bsky.social run a report for us that found that fielders in stadiums with closed roofs were, on average, positioned a foot closer to where fly balls landed than in outdoor venues. Theoretically, you could use WAM's data to position your fielders better and save a few runs a year.

In a study following 23 million people age 18-59 (pretty young) for 4 years…despite the fact that the ones who got the COVID vaccine were overall older and sicker at baseline, they not only had 74% lower risk of dying from COVID than the unvaccinated but 25% lower risk of dying from any other cause!

Don Mattingly has 42 career bWAR with a peak of 7.2, 6.4, 6.3, 5.1 and only one other season above 4. I agree he needs a higher or longer peak to be a Hall of Famer.

But the fielding metrics only have him at +44 runs at 1B over his main 11 seasons (+4 per season) which doesn't match his reputation.

Marco Rubio is reportedly saying Maduro will stand trial in US courts.

Which means it’s now the US administration’s position that US courts can hold foreign presidents, but not the US president, accountable for crimes.

"I suspect the usage of [torpedo] bats will increase in 2026."
Following up on your question: I suspect that others are also analyzing the 2025 data on torpedo bats. And I further suspect that, based on this analysis, the usage of these bats will increase in 2026. We shall see.
Yes, I have done some analysis. It is still in progress and not yet ready to go public. Also have done ( with my collaborators) lab measurements. Those results will be shown at a conference in June. Perhaps prior to that.

Simple request. While reading up on pitchers, I'd like to collect a list of guys who pitched through an injury. I just thought about doing this after reading up on Tanner Scott doing it.

Thanks.
