I've watched Dust Bunny and it has answered some of my questions.
Do I actually have to find out what a Bad Bunny is or can I let this one go

Trying to help without being obtuse and I opened with "I'm sorry to tell you how to suck your cat"

Have any of you been to Threads? It’s like Bluesky but even more embarrassing. The best way I can describe it is: A fictional Twitter made for Grand Theft Auto.

I don't usually have vivid dreams but last night I dreamt my partner had 26 lines of a transcript of a conversation between himself and a health worker concerning the death of a grandparent tattooed on his arm, including the line "he has died, do you want his jacket back?"

Maintain my view that the real two tier policing is "easy things Vs hard things".
If you held up a sign saying, "I support Palestine Action" in London then there wasna chance a squad from the PSNI might arrest you. If you flew a banner glorifying the UDA in Belfast they wouldn't, even though that's a proscribed organisation too. That is clearly absurd.

Ok but AI can't do what I do at work (eat snacks and draw doodles in biro)
This post argues AI is having a moment similar to when you heard about some illness in China back in February 2020.

Tech workers just watched AI go from “helpful tool” to “does my job better than I do.” Everyone else is next. Get your financial house in order and lean into what’s hardest to replace
Something Big Is Happening
A personal note for non-tech friends and family on what AI is starting to change.

Ugh just seen the profile pic of someone I babysat when he was a toddler and he looks properly middle aged. Curse you, passage of time.

The more I consider this the more offended I am. I don’t give a shit about your greyhounds and the idea that you think crying about your greyhounds on a podcast makes you electable genuinely nauseates me.

A thought experiment, would any of the means by which any country ever got rich be legal now?

In football, the goals are big and the balls are bouncy. No other sport capitalises on this alchemical formula, and no tactics will quench its fire.

It is fucking weird how every conversation on here about Starmer ends up with accusations that you basically think he's Jesus. Saying "He's the best option currently of a dissatisfying bunch but he's got a lot to do to win people over" apparently merits "GOD WHY DO YOU WANT STARMER'S BABY"
Indeed. I was expecting some people to rightly go 'come on, you basically think that the chances of this happening are roughly up there with Elon Musk's chances of building a Mars colony', not 'I can't believe you love Starmer and are planning to live on the Mars colony'.

The good thing about having a job that's made up of hundreds of different roles that won't get done if you don't do them is the excitement of finding out which complicated but critical process you had never heard of before but is now urgent you will have to research and implement this week.

Yeah, very much in the same “not convinced by this, but…” boat. I would add that just because a lot of junk science has been thrown around as justification doesn’t mean that there aren’t potentially huge downstream effects of this that we aren’t seeing yet, or we are seeing and we are just accepting
(I'm not totally sold on believing kids should be banned from social media but nothing convinces me more than online addicted 38 year ours outraged at the suggestion)

me that footage so I can post children online? Like... why is every tech company like this, that they can't give you a useful service without adding "here's our new feature, it puts ur life at risk xxx"

I already can't comprehend why people think it's ok to surveil their neighbours and their own family with doorbells connected to the internet. This linked up surveillance stuff is the obvious next step and I will think very badly of anyone who still uses one.
Yeah I’m looking for my dog (girlfriend who has a restraining order against me and she has a dog) and here’s the picture of the dog (she walks this dog and I can use it to figure out her schedule) thanks for sending all footage my way
