These barber shops are everywhere though, plus the empty Vape shops as well. This isn't a London centric thing, everywhere that's had empty shop fronts has them in bundles.

I keep thinking that if only more was done to address the very visible evidence of crime that's all around us (shoplifting, dodgy vape & barber shops, mobile phone snatching), people would feel a lot more like society was operating in their favour.
Wow it turns out that the explosion in barbers is linked to crime? Who would have thought??

Please report back as to whether anyone thanked you
November 24, 2025 at 6:23 PM
I don't have a fixed position on that.

PSA: I will not thank anyone who has said "you'll thank me" when dispensing advice.

I didn't know though

Oh yeah and it's called Feed the Tree.

Yeah I never had Star - a friend gave me King on a cassette tape, and I eventually bought the CD. I have tried to listen to Star several times but never managed to get into it in the same way.

That's what made me listen - that song kept coming up on an automated playlist - is it on Star? It's brilliant.

I would enjoy that.

My son has got me going on this fan theory that all the Hugh Jackman roles set in the 1800s could be escaped clones of his The Prestige character. So PT Barnum, Javert, Van Helsing and one of them that went a little wrong and got a mutant X Gene and became Wolverine, all part of the Prestige EU

I put on King by Belly, which I haven't listened to for ages, and realised it's a great answer for "albums on which every song is brilliant". No duds at all, and because I listened to it so much as a teenager every track is like an old friend I didn't know I was missing.

I think I it's been part of a move, in American TV making, to "things should be really in your face and annoying".
November 23, 2025 at 10:58 AM
I watched a bit of that because a friend told me she thought it would be right up my street and I was pretty offended.

Not really if we are honest

I find that there is an awful lot of rubbish typed online and I would only pay attention to most of it if I wanted to exploit it for content.

As someone who watched a lot of both Cheers and Friends, I can't really see much of a change except just possibly in pace.
November 23, 2025 at 10:36 AM
...very importantly, I would have felt this excluded me from being qualified as a TV critic.
November 23, 2025 at 10:07 AM
I was being a snob about it and would never have watched it until someone I liked loved it and brought loads of videos of it to my house for me to watch and I enjoyed it. But if they hadn't, I might never have watched. But then I opt out if loads of popular things and...
