Grey and rainy morning, so the gym was reasonably busy early on. But the outdoor pool was quiet: enjoyed a lane to myself, in the rain. #swimming

One of those mornings where you've been up early #running, attended to a bunch of tasks and are ready for a second #coffee at only 09:30.

Have buttermilk brined some chicken, which I was going to roast along with some beetroot. Giving serious thought to firing up the #bbq as rain looks to be holding off... And nice, smoky flavours...

City take bragging rights in the first #MelbDerby of the season, with a nil-2 win. Seems to be a problem with finishing at #MVFC - plenty of shots, but few on target. All the difference in the end. #MVCvMCY

The Victory front line really have the yips this evening. And trailing nil-2 now. *sigh* #MVCvMCY #MelbDerby

Half time and City lead nil-1, though #MVFC probably creating more chances. Just need to actually put them away. #MVCvMCY #MelbDerby

And his fairly one-dimensional strategy, is simply to keep throwing increasing amounts of compute at the problem.
Altman has pursued an Apollo style Moon Shot project to create AI and have bragging rights with other people's money, without a roadmap to profitability. This absolutely reeks of the Dot Com bubble times a billion.

Packaging the #PrawnSandwhicBrigade snacks for #MelbDerby this evening. Bacon and egg hand pies, chopped carrot and celery, mango segments, and christmas mince pies (also, bottles of water). With the rain and cold, we're going to be well rugged up in the stands. #MVCvMCY

About time Altman got the kicking he deserves.

Melbourne has turned on absolutely rubbish weather for #MelbDerby day. But nice and quiet in the pool for a few laps of recovery #swimming. Could be cold, wet and miserable in the stands at AAMI Park this evening.

So the expansion of the universe may not be accelerating but rather, is slowing. If verified, we're back to where our understanding was by about the 1990s. And our ideas about Dark Energy require revision.

Been a big catch-up day, but also finalising a bunch of administrivia that needed doing. Managed a serious domestic blitz, after-travel laundry, etc. But finally got last financial year's tax affairs off to the accountant, and expecting a small refund as icing on the cake. #FreelanceLife

A quick 5km trot is a good way to revitalise after sitting in a plane for 4 hours. Now to get cracking on organising some dinner. #running

Return trip today so another #TravelDay. Running *late* on local time but working to my home time zone standard. First post check-out stop is Rumours for a proper #coffee fix, ahead of the airport bus.

Kinda bummed that these Adrian Sherwood dates in Japan, don't line up with when I'm in the relevant cities. Otherwise I'd definitely attend one of the shows.

Behind this unassuming door, is a complex of tunnels that extend all the way across to Constitution Hill. Would make a nifty shortcut to Parnell, from Victoria St East.

Seems all the Auckland ferries have been commandeered for the D-Day like operation getting people to the start of #RunTheCity. Not a bad way to travel TBH.
November 1, 2025 at 4:41 PM
Right-o, off to bed to be properly rested for #RunTheCity tomorrow. Early wake up for the ferry across to Devonport for the start.
November 1, 2025 at 8:04 AM
Passing Victoria Park on the bus and I can see preparations are under way for #RunTheCity tomorrow. Tomorrow morning it will be a packed with tired people who have finished their nominated #running distance.
