My ex-partner’s kid is being hospitalized for mental health, and they need help making the house safe, including moving some furniture. They sent out a group text, asking for some community support, and virtually no one was available. I hate that I can’t just go lift all that for them.

A friend handed me a jar that she couldn’t open, saying, “Give it to Mariah, she’s a blacksmith. She can get it!”… and the arthritis in my hands has been flared so badly that I couldn’t open it either. There was no public mocking or shame, but in my brain, I was disappointed in myself.

I mean, frankly, I’m still pretty strong, but… goddamn do I miss feeling strong and capable.

Even in my general state of being partially broken, I usually feel better than this.

I’m especially missing that now, as numerous surgeries in the last ten months have left me soft and deconditioned. Less muscle tone = less joint support/stabilization = more overall pain. I’m trying to balance rest and healing with the need to at least work on some gentle conditioning.

I miss how jiu jitsu made my body feel. It’s hard to describe but with my hypermobility, BJJ really made my core feel strong, supported, and limber.

Unfortunately, even if I tapped early, it was often too late for my lax joints.

I haven’t found the balance of how to do grappling safely for me.

The idea that the combined MMR is dangerous but separately the vaccines are fine was created out of whole cloth by Andrew Wakefield, a disgraced former doctor who had a patent on a non-combined version of the MMR. We've known his research was bunk for almost 30 years.

it's also really important to spread the "this is illegal" message as far as you can because the majority of people are not exposed to it! most people do not even know the government is doing the illegal thing it's doing, let alone that it's illegal. when they learn about it they get mad!

I know it's frustrating when lawyers point out when something the administration is doing is not legal. But responding with "the law doesn't matter anymore" is really unhelpful and defeatist. Clarifying the law is important because it reminds us not to comply in advance and to resist and take action

IMO it is completely and totally ethical to lie about comorbidities to get a COVID vaccine. This is not like 2021 where supply was limited and you were jumping the line in front of someone more vulnerable. We have enough vaccines! The restrictions are fake and purely anti-vax bullshit.
