Twin Peaks — twice!

It's so good how everything people think they know about Moby Dick from culture is like 60 pages of the novel and the rest is about shit like cuddling in a bed with your harpooner boyfriend, squeezing sperm with the fellas, watching 5-6 of your crewmates all stand on the deck making soliloquies
people think moby dick is a stern adventure novel heavy on the plot. i can't emphasize how much it's not. it's supergay chaos with 3 plot points. there's an entire chapter that's just a chowder recipe. sometimes it turns into a play. the main character is covered in whale dinension tattoos.
finally reading moby dick. why didn't anyone tell me that it's good

I just want everyone to step back and realize how often it's a trans woman getting bullied off social media.

Protip: for any cis people who don’t already know, the phrase “this person” is an extremely obvious way transhobes often degender and/or misgender trans people.

you should generally not use that phrasing. especially if you are criticizing someone who happens to be trans.

Gotta be real a queer read of char adds so much to UC. Repressing identity and chronic avoidance of the things that terrify you will eventually fuck up your life -- including your ambitions for spacenoid independence AND your chances with the autistic boy you've obsessed over for more than a decade

Thinking about this again and how it applies to *every* transition milestone I've ever hit. I've done more things I'm terrified of in the last couple years than the rest of my life put together and even with ceaseless existential world dread I'm still the happiest I've ever been for it
transition has been an exercise in learning that the more scared i am of doing something the more important it usually is for me to do it

let’s also not forget that a trans woman with a popular account on here just deactivated after posting pics of herself in her new years finery and having some fucking creep use grok to remove her clothes and send the images back to her. this is straight up evil technology.
Grok is not a source! Grok is not sentient! Grok is a machine woven into the fabric of a social network that made CSAM on-demand!
Grok says safeguard lapses led to images of 'minors in minimal clothing' on X reut.rs/498SoUk

One week post ffs and feel a bit more myself. I've had incredible support and this has brought me and my mom even closer together. She's gotten much more reflexive about emphasizing I'm her daughter and I've been crying every day seeing how excited she is for me. I was too cynical to ever expect it.

Last night before surgery. A daunting thing I'm privileged to do - that might not even be available anymore to people like me next year. Something I still couldn't have had without help. I only made it this far because so many people love me. So I will try to be brave and hopeful instead of scared

The name "Popular Science" doesn't mean we shift our coverage depending on public opinion. It means we cover relevant subjects that are rigorously researched, reliable, and grounded in reality.

And trans lives are grounded in reality.

We see y'all. No matter what.

Cis people really have no idea how it feels to watch a regime hold a press conference to admit, on camera, the pogrom against trans people they've been waging for 11 months is not only real, but they're going to double down on genocide and try to wipe out all the children first.

It is deeply evil and violent to ban healthcare for trans kids and anyone trying to convince you otherwise is telling you they just rather those children be miserable, or dead, or both.
Tomorrow, the House of Representatives will vote on a bill that bans gender-affirming medical care for any transgender person under 18, and threatens any medical professional providing this care to youth with 10 years in prison.

Tell Congress to protect trans youth and vote NO.
Protect Trans Care Now
As wave after wave of extreme measures to criminalize and strip trans people of rights and safety continue, tell Congress to act.
