magpie and stellars jay (sj) are my cats

Pinned
Magpie (left) and Stellar's Jay (right) are my cats! They are a little over one (got them from the shelter at around 6ish months, less than a week after they got there from the foster).

Magpie is the squishy baby who wants pets and nibbles.

SJ is the crime gremlin who will fight god for fries.
Oh my god so many.

The noodle shop next to Kam Lun in Elmhurst, closed in the mid 90s, whose owner taught me to love Shanghai food and rolls her eyes at people who tell her to use less oil.

Aloha Ramen in Greenwood / Lake City Way, RIP tonkatsu dandan ramen, died in literal flames. :thread:

The ONLY political conflict i want to read about in a romance novel in 2026 is, like, “I’m on whistle patrol every night” versus “I’m scared shitless, on my behalf and on your behalf (and I’m finding other ways to help my neighbors)”

Okay finally have time to sit down and type so here's what happened. Yesterday at like 7AM I woke up going oh I need to use the bathroom and went to the bathroom and then I had the worst diarrhea and vomiting I've ever had in my life. Worse than all the food poisoning and GLP-1 side effects I had.🧵

I swapped to a black Cavernhold a while back (after seeing it from @powrdragn.bsky.social's posts) and I am really enjoying it, both the purse form factor and size for 4 decks plus tokens and dice. But an unexpected feature is that I keep thinking it's one of my cats b/c it's about cat sized.

Home and microwaving soups. Still unclear why I was literally dying on the floor this morning but I now have bonus grippy socks and kidney damage.

It's REALLY nice to not be the patient the er nurses are surprised by for once... I mean it still sucks but. Also sucks for her.
For what it's worth I'm not the woman that came in via navy helicopter and the er nurses at the TRAUMA HOSPITAL were like wow I have not seen an EMT do CPR this way before while she was being wheeled in.

For people elsewhere who have asked how to support Minnesota while we’re overrun with nazi thugs, here’s an excellent list of places that could use financial help. Lots of choices. Thank you so much!

I've "trained" my cats that if I go AAAAAAAAAA at them when I open the door it means they can't come out and play but! it only works if I'm doing it above middle C (preferably at least an octave above) if I scream lower they don't care.

Fun fact I did not grow up reading newspaper comics because my parents only bought Chinese newspapers (except for when I had to get a Sunday paper for school purposes) which didn't have comics so I grew up reading newspaper serialized erotica and brothel reviews instead.
why did so many millennials read so many newspaper comics? easily 60 percent of my reading diet in elementary/middle school was collected editions of calvin and hobbes, farside, dilbert, peanuts, doonesbury (!), foxtrot (?!?) and i know im not alone. historically unique phenomenon
rather than talk about Scott Adams I want to talk about something weirder (me). Who else was really into Dilbert when you were 12. Who else was like, boy, I can't wait to work a cubicle job

Some people are incapable of empathy no matter how much they see.
It makes me think a lot about the "representation" argument, that if we're represented enough in film and television and books, that these people will one day see us as normal and accept us, and no I don't think that's true. They'll happily consume stories about us, but still want to maintain power.

Doomscrolled for an hour while just resting my hand on a sleeping Magpie. I really need to go run errands and sell more of my possessions to buy groceries ... but cat contact is so good ...
