Among the many things I love about @libro.fm is that actual people from your chosen bookshop make recommendations which you can see and then purchase from within the app. Awesome! #booksky #audiobooks

This isn't just near Independence Hall. It's where Washington stayed while president, kept slaves, posted bounty ads for runaways, and rotated them back and forth to VA to evade PA's manumission law. This is what it's known for, this specific location's primary historical significance is slavery.
The exhibits about slavery at the President’s House in Philadelphia’s Independence National Historical Park have been removed amid pressure from the Trump admin www.inquirer.com/politics/nat...

Look at this: @inquirer.com has digitally preserved the interpretative signage removed by NPS, and used annotations to explain what specifically was flagged before removal. This keeps the content publicly accessible (for now) while doing newsworthy reporting

Following last year’s review, every sign has been removed from the President’s House site.

I didn’t and was feeling terrible unproductive anger until I got a note today from a Boring Books listener in Minneapolis.

Guess I was doing something without realizing it, and guess I’d better keep doing that.
You don’t know your role yet maybe, but we are all finding out just what we have to offer.

In Minneapolis, one man knew immediately what he could offer and said “Bring me your clothing”.

This was a good exhibit. I was just telling my husband about it when we were (finally) watching the Revolution series. And now it's kindling as part of the larger purge of information across the country. Disgusted.
Signs about the history of slavery in the U.S. and the 9 people George Washington enslaved are being removed right now at the President’s House Site in Philadelphia, across from Independence Hall, months after the Trump administration threatend to do so.

How far we have not come in 250 years.

The biggest issue I have with doing giveaways for the podcast is actually giving away the gifts to winners because they don’t respond. Every time! So funny.

Editing the latest Boring Books for Bedtime (don't judge, it was a holiday week!), turned on Bluesky, and ... yep, this is not going to be the year I quit making a podcast to help people in stressful times. Sigh.

It's Top Ten Roundup time for Boring Books for Bedtime. There were some changes this year, more history and politics and fewer of the cozy reads that dominated 2024. Some perennial faves and a REALLY surprising number one. Here's to more in 2026!

Darlings, I say this with all the love in the world—but that new bullet journal you’re about to buy that you know is never going to get used/will just get put into the journal graveyard, isn’t going to fix you. ❤️
