It has been a fantastic day watching my graduate student, Noelle Patterson, successfully defend her Master’s Thesis! She gave an excellent presentation & wrote an excellent document. I’m so grateful to have worked with her for my first 2 years as an Assistant Professor. We will miss her in the lab!

It was a great #AERA2025 bringing my students for the first time, presenting our work on SRL with videos, co-hosting the #MotSIG ECR social with the amazing @allisonzengilowski.bsky.social, & connecting with all my academic besties! 💙 Now I get to read in the mountains for a few days!

ICE was just spotted on our campus. I’m horrified and really struggling to understand how I’m supposed to just keep working like everything is okay!?!?

Something about the KuhlMedia & Mind lab is that we are going to try and find the joy in any possible moment (even now 🙃). This week’s joy was getting a sign for our new lab space and hanging the beautiful wreath made by PhD student, Haley Siegfried (and her mom 🥲).

Keep celebrating your PhD defenses, job offers, and awards! Keep telling us ALL the good things.

Joy & Hope are what keep us going when things look bleak. They are also forms of resistance.
