I have recurring bad dreams about separating from my spouse and needing to find a new housing solution.

I get to see some amazing (fictional) apartments most nights.

If I had skill+time+energy, I'd create an art portfolio called Apartment of My Dreams, featuring floorplans and design schemes.

if you’re doing rapid response even if you don’t care about COVID wear a fucking mask, DHS and ICE are filming peoples faces on purpose for their propaganda social media videos

If you’re in the Edgewater/Rogers Park area, we need people with their whistles on visibly out on patrol. Even if it’s just a walk on your lunch break or while you walk your dog, it matters. This is an all hands on deck day. Whatever you can do. ICE is heavily present in the area. Hope I see you.
I have been asked by multiple people at work if I'm okay the past few weeks.

My friends, anyone I consider to be a decent human being is very much not okay right now, for good (and many) reasons.

As SNAP cuts & ICE / CBP threaten the safety & security of far north side neighbors, Rogers Park Free Store distro’d diapers, formula, menstrual products, cleaning supplies, OTC meds, toiletries & more yesterday with the help of local migra watch. As someone from AZ, who was transplanted in IL 13 years ago, I'd love nothing more than to stop changing the clocks.

But I thought standard time was better for people.

Either way, yes, make a time permanent please.

Love it or hate it, many will turn their clocks back on Sunday. The debate — whether or not to make daylight saving time permanent — continues. n.pr/4okDSzv

Just in case anyone thought I was joking.

I worked today but I still started. :)
I sincerely hope she, and her colleagues, find outlets for the grief it causes them as witnesses to the cruelty, as well as sources of joy, so they don't break.

For whatever it is worth, they have my unending gratitude.
This song gives me the type of joy a 90s rom-com does.

Just silly amounts of it, melting away some of the tension from having an ongoing invasion taking place.

What frightens me the most?

A lot of supposedly decent people I know support everyday* cruelty toward the unhoused.

*Calling cops, removing tents/encampments, kicking them out of public spaces, etc.

I provided assistance to unhoused individuals and a former coworker wanted me fired for it.
Utah has just approved a 1,300-person “mega camp” for homeless individuals,This camp lacks transportation, features locked units, and even imposes forced labor.

They refer to this facility as “work-conditioned housing,” but we simply call it what it is: modern-day internment.
I had 24 kids stop by for a full-sized candy bar.

That's actually decent for my street; most families head to the neighborhood north of us.

I got some reading in, in between visits.
The cards have arrived. Time to get writing! ✏️
Why am I sincerely tearing up over this?

I <3 public transit.

I'm so grateful to all who championed this outcome.

It doesn’t matter to me if ICE / CBP only abduct criminalized and/or undocumented people, and do so without using chemical weapons, harming bystanders, or physically injuring anyone in the process. ALL ICE / CBP actions are unnecessary and unjustified violence, regardless of how they operate.
The Border Patrol isn't a laughing matter but the other part lifted this stranger's spirits just a touch.

I thank you (and the Discovery feed) for that.
Whatever may be said about what Christianity is *supposed* to be, I feel like it's common knowledge at this point that what it *is* and historically *has been* is chock full of cruelty towards others.

Or, it has been wielded by people in that way.

It's pretty inextricable, is it not?
When did making kids go hungry become a Christian value?
My pregnant niece, who has a job but qualifies for the SNAP program, is not getting SNAP benefits in November.

I don't need it to be personal to care but it happens to be and I also care quite a bit. This is true for a lot of people.

Cessnas, helicopters, and drones are just part of life now. At all hours.

I woke up Friday night/Saturday morning, at 3am, to repeated flyovers that went on for an hour.
Talking shop (very specific type of food pantry support) like a boss.

I'm 8 months in on this project and it's only getting more awareness/support as time passes.

Food insecurity is ALWAYS a political choice. Famine is ALWAYS manmade. People go hungry because of other people’s decisions. We have more than enough food for everyone, and enormous amounts of it are wasted—literally thrown in the garbage—on purpose.
