List-maker, office supply lover, late-1900s nostalgia chaser, book consumer, children's & YA GN enthusiast. Overly sentimental. Opinions my own.
Also caught this! 🤶🏽🎄🚆

The "elf" closest to me begrudgingly gave me a button when I asked for one, but informed me they're meant for kids. News to me!

It was lovely getting out this afternoon. It really helped with the CBP rage.

I cannot express how much I loathe the practice of valuing people
The world’s richest person just hit another major milestone thanks to the soaring valuation of his rocket maker SpaceX.

What must it be like to live in the Chicago area and not notice, care, or actively be trying to address (read: stop) ICE/CBP/etc?

Truly. How is it possible?

Tamales, rice, beans, biscochitos.

If I'm feeling pale, mashed potatoes, creamed spinach, lasagna, bread rolls.

Mac and cheese is an evergreen special occasion (and regular occasion) option.
what do u eat for christmas bc i feel like there's a specific prescription for thanksgiving food that u cannot deviate from but christmas well it seems like it depends

My new year's resolution for 2025 was to add more color to my life.

It's going to spill into 2026 because I'm always behind these days.

I'm having someone paint some spaces in my house, but in a bunch of colors/places, so now I need to create a picture guide to help them know what goes where.

I couldn't say this any better.

What a horrific weekend.
I’ve been speechless & despondent about all of the horrors this weekend that has been visited upon people & communities. The gun violence, the antisemitism, everything else. All I can really say is that I’m so sorry & I truly hope to live to see the day when we decide to do right by one another.

Successful chocolate themed family program today, with pudding Pictionary, timed M&M sorting, candy bar taste test, and guess the count chocolate chip jar.

It was really nice to see how much they enjoyed themselves.

Attend your library's programs!! 🙂

This year, I was hit with dental debt totaling $4,377 due to UnitedHealthcare denying me coverage. I chipped away at some, but need help with the rest. If you're feeling generous this holiday season, please donate. Any amount is greatly appreciated. Thanks! 🦷 gofund.me/ee515fcbc #MutualAid #GoFundMe

I am in a high state of stress, knowing people are going to die from the cold this weekend because they have nowhere to go for shelter.

We could do so much better than we are for people.

Thank YOU, @detroitspecials.bsky.social!

These went straight on my shelves and life feels just a little bit better. 😊📚

You won't get names or faces of my loves, but I present this absolutely perfect finger grasp.

It's my favorite photo to get of all my babies.

(This photo was not taken by me; they're in AZ.)

Some of the Holiday Magic at the Brookfield Zoo Chicago @brookfieldzoo.bsky.social this evening. ⛄❄️🐬

This may have been my biggest motivation for going to Holiday Magic this year. The quartet providing the music were the absolute sweetest.

Remember the middle of the night fed raid (involving helicopters) on Black and brown residents in Chicago?

I know it's supposed to be brilliant but I did not get along with 2001: A Space Odyssey.

I wish I could expound on that but it was a negative enough experience that I recall nothing other than distaste.
Never mind movies you’ve watched multiple times, name a movie you’ve watched once and would never watch again.

I don't eat meat anymore but I LOVED Spam when I did; it was a household staple.

We'd slice it and add Tabasco or we'd cube it and add it to fried potatoes.

Went well in burritos, on the side of eggs, in breakfast sandwiches.

Hat tip to multi-generational poverty endearing it to my family.
My unpopular opinion is that spam is good and you’re probably just a snob.

As it turns out, my community was not interested. No attendees. 😔
Would it be weird/too meta to host a Reading Rainbow watch party at my library?

My last show for 2025.

I have more issues with poor audience behavior at these shows than I do at movie theaters. Late arrivals, talking, taking pictures/using phones.

It's not enough to be a cop over it, just observing it's worse than movies.

Hey library friends - tomorrow is my last session of the term for my youth services librarianship students.

What’s something you would tell them re: navigating current library landscape? Words of encouragement?

A pick-me-up art purchase after a rough week that included my spouse visiting the ER overnight and my subsequent shortage of sleep for days after.

Am I just a nostalgic Old?

I take every chance I can get to go to the theater.

Shorter release windows make seeing what I want to see even harder than it already is.

I don't know why I am the way that I am but now that I know the answer to this question and how to acquire this paper I have no use for, I really want to get some.
