Hey, #PortfolioDay, I'm Si Sweetman. I'm an illustrator and character designer, I vacillate aesthetically between sci-fi, dark fantasy and funky little guys. I'm looking for work, as usual.

An illustration of the dawn over a wintery halfling town, its twee architecture dwarfed by a massive temple of Samothes. In the midground a crowd gathers around a windswept execution platform. In the foreground Fero Feritas walks away, with regret, from the encaged Gnoll, Mother Glory, awaiting her execution. Did you try to save her? A kneeling armoured figure cups their hands together to catch blood poured from the wrist of a witch standing above them. Blood is spattered over their face and armour. The witch wears a massive headgear from which an umbilical of bloody tubes attach her to an abstract blob of blood, fraying into hexagonal strands and baby faces. Three little reptilian guys careen through the air with urban detritus. A car, a bin, a power line to which one clings desperately. Behind them in the clouds a colossal serpent whips through the sky, it's fleshy triangular mouth opens, eyelessly, towards them. A Sleeper from Citizen Sleeper hunched in a fetal position in zero g, clutches an open terrarium growing plants and mushrooms. Their tools float around them in in the air, along with droplets of water spilling from their irrigation tank. The sleeper is clad in overalls and a mylar cloak to keep their electronic components dry.

I have been given the go-ahead to begin sharing #friendsatthetable #Palisade post-card work. While I work on my website updating it with that project, I'll be trickling those out. Aiming for 1/week.

These are in-universe propaganda books-on-tape. This ones designed around Gentian's Swordbearers.

We did something different with the credits for Demonschool. We used this format: name, title, lengthy description of what they did. Often you see credits in games where you don't know what the credited developer was actually responsible for. We wanted to give people proper, actual credit.
Credits for Brent Porter (3D art lead) and Catherine Menabde (2D art lead) are shown here. There's a lengthy description of what they did, with a pastiche of various Demonschool characters underneath, messing around with a computer.

Miracle. The scar of the Bontive Valley. The final #Palisade post card is a collaboration between myself and @badbucket.bsky.social. We traded sketches back and forth to land on the comp. I painted the environment, Conner did the ships, the finishing touches, the typography etc. #friendsatthetable
Two synthetic beings look up from the scar of the Bontive Vallet, filled with shards of Crusade's glass weapons. They gaze out over the valley between great stone formations at the encroaching Twilight Mirage swirling in secondary colours. From the clouds 3 ships burst forth, creating a circular void in the clouds in their wake. The image is treated with clean typography that frames it. VT Lin amd Ter Tirhan are the listed authors. The title spans the horizon line. Miracle, it reads. The same painting as previous, but with the typography removed.

Not sure if I've said it previously, but there's no hard in repeating, the SU-Cream Pencil for CSP has really become my workhorse brush. It's all over any of my painterly work and my sketches. It's almost all I used in my Realis work. Love this thing and it's free.

In the foreground at the bottom of the image, a group of shepherds or nomads, along with their alien animals, look off to the horizon. Upsidedown at the top of the image, but still In the foreground at, a group of adventurers climb over rocky hills and look into the horizon. Impulse: Cut something of yourself free. It could not have been a blade—no hand nor hardpoint is strong enough to wield a sword so large. It could not have been a searing beam, as the edges bear neither char nor residue. It could not have been a dip into the Great Void nor the edge of Realis-Itself, both of which are known to take pieces of those worlds that come too near—for the halfmoon Twaincut bears no radiant aura, no abyssal mark. It is simply a half-sphere, smaller than most moons yet still its own by all rights, perfectly flat on one side, and curved as orbs ought on the other, rotating in the blue light of Realis like a gamepiece floating in black water. It would be a puzzle, except for the greater one: Whether human or beast, to be born on Twaincut is to be born twice—first on the prairie-like Flatside, and then, after one’s first death, on the village-dotted Hillside. Or else reversed in order. And so to live on Twaincut is to live twice, soul and sense contiguous, yet with only fleeting memories of the life before. A nomad lord turned village priestess. An ox of the field turned ass of the mountain. A chicken-keeper turned sage of the open sky. A child lost and then a child again. Simplicity and complexity, ease and ambition, clarity and ambiguity. This is the amateur perspective. No, it is not so obvious as that. The plain is flat, but it is not simple. The hill requires effort but not all who climb have aims. It is a dream place, a haunting. Life and death, youth and age redoubled in on themselves. Spend a while there and you may wonder what I did: Perhaps Twaincut simply split itself. People Sentences Twaincut flatsiders always see without horizons. Twaincut hillsiders always seek what’s beyond the peak. Twaincut mystics always remember both lives. Place Sentences The Twaincut Flat always provides for those who journey far enough. The Twaincut Hill always turns a traveler down a new path. Twaincut depths always split outsiders in two.

The fifth #Palisade postcard I did for #FriendsAtTheTable, and the final one I was the sole artist for was creating this posed candid military photo for a propagandistic military biography of Lucia Whitestar and her flagship, Lander 1.
A fake book-on-tape for a military biography of Lucia Whitestar from Palisade, called Operation Lowlander. A framed photograph of Lucia Whitestar in uniform, talking to her logistics guy, pointed at a paper map. Behind her troops march, officers talk on short wave radio. Cranes load. It is a sunlit hangar, and Lander 1, a brick of a ship, looms over the whole scene. Its shaped like a fish that carries bombs and it reflects a moiree pattern off its carbon steel hull. It dwarfs everything in the hangar, which is already a massive megastructure.

Three little reptilian guys careen through the air with urban detritus. A car, a bin, a power line to which one clings desperately. Behind them in the clouds a colossal serpent whips through the sky, it's fleshy triangular mouth opens, eyelessly, towards them. In dusty scrublands, hundreds of sheep are guided by several reptilian shepherds. In the distance hulking, rusty spaceship parts are crashed into the landscape. In slowly overgrowing concrete lot, next to junkyard shanty, beneath the boughs of a massive tree, some little guys are playing footie. With gusto, the most prominently featured reptilian child kicks the ball towards the camera, causing shockwaves of dust. Other children react with joy, anger, confusion. A little lizard person kayaks through turquoise water and mangrove swamp growing in the decaying ruins of a city.
