THIS SUCKS. The shutdown isn’t about budgets. It’s about greed. They’re willing to cut healthcare and safety nets for millions just to hand out more tax breaks to the rich. The utter arrogance and indifference of our elected officials is in full flaunt mode.

I prefer the "rising tide lifts all boats" to the "increasing the size of the pie" metaphor. The latter assumes the success of business leads to the alleviation of poverty, the former acknowledges that it's two way:

1. better business → poverty alleviation
2. poverty alleviation → better business
