#FindsFriday! A Roman brush found in Bregenz.

Roman brush fragments are sometimes difficult to interpret; in this case, their function may relate to textile production, as suggested for similar finds in Eschenz. The bristled surface is suitable for carding or teasing wool fibers. 🧵1/2

Kick back with this episode and ponder days gone by when a trip to the coffee house might conincide with an auction by candle or a dolphin dissection...🕯

The Baths of the Seven Sages are a public bathing complex in Ostia Antica, ancient Rome’s port city. Named for frescoes depicting Greek philosophers, it features a rotunda with a well-preserved mosaic floor in its frigidarium (cold room) dating to the Hadrianic period (117-138 CE). #mosaicmonday

Ring-shaped flask
4th Century

The flask, with missing base, was probably made in the Rhine workshops or imitated their productions.

It has the then fashionable drinking quotations, - “Hostess, fill my flask ….”

Found Rue des Ursins, Paris

Now Musée Carnavalet, #Paris
