Far too windy for a full complement of mist-nets at the Bill today but tapped into a nice arrival of Goldcrests that made up 27 of the 61 birds ringed. Totting up of the totals also revealed that yesterday we broke the all-time Stonechat record - now 81 ringed this year (previous record 78 in 2024)

Yesterday it was ace to see a Short-eared Owl fly in off the sea, making its way to the UK for winter. This morning, a Long-eared Owl did thr same, landing in a nearby hedge. Migration in action. @flamboroughbird.bsky.social

We’ve also received several recoveries of the Black-tailed Godwits ringed in the #LDV during spring. Some of these birds have been resighted on autumn passage at Snettisham in Norfolk, East Halton in Lincolnshire and Cork in Ireland, as well as in Merseyside and Essex @yorkbirding.bsky.social
