Ah but you see, one was a design flaw and the other is intentional negligence

The real kicker? Her family has been here for like 170 years on the Hispanic side. Her mom's side is something like 100 years.

It makes me so mad and there's not a god damn fucking thing I can do about it.

My hispanic wife now has my Saxon/Scottish last name and this is the bullshit she now worries about every time she leaves the house

Dante would need to dig out a whole new sub-basement of Hell for these ghouls

What if the unidentified masked men with guns don't accept the validity of your papers?

I remember seeing people who used to have their SSN printed on their checks when I worked at WalMart in high school

Good god pre-internet life was so much less stressful 😭

Same! Also, there's literally a search tool in the Messages app so even if all you know is a street or city. Or search for "address"

Done that one a bunch of times 😂

If anyone needs me I will be in the museum, lying down next to the bog bodies.
Did people really memorize phone numbers before cell phones, or is that just a movie thing?
2? Questions
I was watching some old shows from the 90s and noticed people would just dial numbers from memory - like they'd call their friends or family without looking anything up.
Made me wonder if that was actually normal back then? Did people genuinely have all their important numbers memorized, or did most folks keep a little address book or written list nearby?

there's literally an address field in the contact info 😭

Imagine going back to the year 2000 and trying to tell people that the Republican party and Fox News would be trying to convince the country that no, actually, monarchy is good and we should want a king

Fox Propaganda is desperately spinning the "No Kings" events in fearful anticipation of their success.

Just saw a car ad that tried to sell being stuck in traffic as quality family time. I’ve never felt more sure that we’re near the collapse of car culture.

But don't confuse it with Apple TV which is a hardware device you plug into your TV

Did these morons hire Zaslav or something?

Apple TV+ has rebranded to Apple TV

It's their 'vibrant new identity'

It’s kind of concerning that I as a random guy who browses Bluesky am more informed about what’s happening politically than the Speaker of the House.

REPORTER: We know the president moved forward with mass layoffs. We're also learning there were significant cuts to staff at special education services. Are you comfortable with those cuts?

MIKE JOHNSON: I haven't seen the specifics of that and I don't know

Even by college football's ridiculous standards, "Guy who had the No. 3 team in the country 15 days ago gets fired" is pretty mind-blowing.

The Woodlands couldn't be a more perfect picture of "This is his base" and if even they aren't buying this shit? He's gonna do everything he can to stop that next election cuz they're fuuuuuucked if he doesn't
slamastack.bsky.social
I know this is anecdotal af, but the elderly woman at the very nice restaurant we went to last night in The Woodlands, TX was quite vocal about how disgusted she is with the Republican party and how she felt deceived

I mean, better late than never I guess? and this area is *RED* red

Trump’s rhetoric about people attacking law enforcement officers rings a little hollow from someone who pardoned the criminals who killed police on Jan 6

Behold, the Dessert Blossom - the most cursed cocktail I've ever had

Tasted like someone layered bomb pops over chicken breasts in a crock pot, cooked it for 8 hours, strained & chilled the liquid, and poured it in a glass.
