damn cool thread.
Theda Bara arrives in A FOOL THERE WAS (1915). It wasn't first vamp film but it put her on the map as the queen of movie vampires. The trend was spent by 1920, with the more subtle femme fatale taking over, but what a run!

living with tank water has absolutely changed how I understand water, and it remains my biggest issue with AI.

Dear new followers. I've removed the paywall permanently from this piece, which is a chapter from my novel Villager, told entirely in the form of an online village message board. If you like it, you'll probably like the book. If you don't, you won't...

The Village Message Board
Its authenticity was discredited because of his reputation, but also because he was quick with gin at the time and wearing an item of knitwear back to front.

Late period Glenn Hughes from about 15 years ago. Total killer. Also: I love the fact that The KLF just billed him as ‘Glenn Hughes: The Voice of Rock’ for ‘America: What Time is Love’. People forget about Hughes but he’s up there with Dio.

🩷 been feeling this all day.

Nothing will happen. I’m so fucking angry.
Shoutout to all the women triggered by the world’s silence and inaction on all the abusers named in the Epstein files because this is why we didn’t come forward knowing it would lead to exactly this.

Love, solidarity and fuck em all 🖕👊💜

There has been some absolute bullshit involved with Australian Mardi Gras this year & it really just reinforces the fact that these events/organisations that really rely on corporate money & proximity to politicians are absolute garbage who have no interest in genuine queer liberation

Bezos has killed the Washington Post's books pages. John Williams is a mensch, and a good and loyal friend, to me, to @backlisted.bsky.social and to anyone who loves literature and reading. Now more than ever, you know where not to buy your books, or anything else for that matter.
I'll say more before too long, but for now: Thanks to anyone who has ever read and supported the Post's books coverage.
