The GOP is dominated by gutter trash bigots.
GOP Rep. Pat Harrigan: "There are members of Congress that they just cannot trust. And I understand that. We have folks that are Somali first and not America first."

Time for a new year and old classics!

#nowwatching Evil Dead (1981)

What a film. Sam Raimi started as he meant to go on, and like any horror film junkie, this movie has a special place in my heart.
Also staring Bruce Campbell, self proclaimed greatest actor in the world.
Hey, I won't fight that.

It’s almost like green energy is the only way forward and a handful of oil barons are doing everything in their power to keep that from happening so they can get even richer at the cost of literally everything else in the world.
Wall Street’s biggest banks made more money financing green projects than they did from working with fossil fuel companies for a fourth straight year, even as they faced ongoing pressure to pull back from the business
Banks Notch Higher Fees From Green Bonds Than Fossil Fuel Debt

ACA tax credits expired on 12/31. Trump is not complying w Epstein release but what's come out is damning. Dead bodies in the Carribbean. Fragile peace in Ukraine and the Middle East. So House floor time next week will be dedicated to... rolling back shower head and energy efficiency standards.

The median position needs to be "abolish ICE," the vanguard left should be more "burn down the DHS, salt the earth, restore protections & path to full citizenship for EVERYONE who suffered from these pricks' depradations (& is still, you know, around & WANT to be here).
Every Dem candidate ought to be saying abolish ICE.

it's a real symptom of widespread anti-progressive media bias that an explicitly progressive candidate is expected to feel a need to be apologetic about being progressive.

The words “Locked and loaded” coming from the mouth of an unstable, manic man with access to weapons would trigger an immediate 72-hour psychiatric hold if his family brought him to an emergency room worried about the possibility of violence.
The worst possible move.

Another war.

"If it wasn’t Shirley’s video, it would have been something else. If it wasn’t MN, it would have been somewhere else. If it wasn’t about daycare fraud, it would have been something else. Everything this administration does is about creating a fig leaf to justify its violent dismantling of democracy"
The blame for alleged fraud in Minnesota belongs to conservatives
Privatization and a lack of oversight creates a vicious cycle.

i was just thinking about this. when a fascist squeaks by, it’s a mandate. when a progressive wins by a landslide, he needs to be deferential. it’s such bullshit.
as a texan i'll spare people zohran takes but one thing i think we're going to see even more of now that he's mayor is mainstream media shift the goal posts of what having a mandate is. trump had a mandate when he narrowly won but zohran has to reach out to all these factions no matter what
