U of Alabama alumni raise solidarity funds for suspended student magazines!

“Your decision to suspend these publications not only violates these students’ First Amendment rights, it also tarnishes the reputation of the U of Alabama as a space that welcomes all students.”

it sure would be a shame if the entire CFB world’s unmitigated fury about Alabama resulted in a bunch of people giving money to fund student journalism that the UA administration has tried to suppress.

definitely don’t donate 28-7 over and over again, we would be so owned givebutter.com/F0LNOA

MASTHEAD is raising $25,000 to publish print magazines created by the student journalists from Alice and Nineteen Fifty-Six in spring 2026. This money will cover printing costs, fund student salaries for both publications as well as miscellaneous workspace and equipment needs.

On Dec. 1, university officials told student journalists at Nineteen Fifty-Six, a magazine celebrating Black student culture, and Alice, a magazine centered on women’s fashion and lifestyle, that their publications would be shuttered immediately.

The college football playoff is a reality television show about college football. The sooner you understand this the more it all makes sense. In conclusion roll tide.

Honestly, if we win, great, very funny. If we lose, everyone will be extremely mad all over again, which, also great, also very funny.
Bama fans, who out here not watching the selection show because you're afraid they ARE gonna put us in and don't want to see this team humiliate itself in the first round

Disney rewarding the big brand name schools at the expense of the plucky upstarts as usual. Clearly just picking the schools with the big TV audiences.

The committee clearly understood what America wanted, and that was more of Ty Simpson averaging 3.2 yards a reception in the second half of a blowout loss

2014-2022: The “the committee is always biased in favor of Bama and gives them lots of undeserved freebies” thing was frequently repeated, but not really true

So, BYU was penalized for getting blown out in its conference championship game (dropped one spot). Which allowed Miami to move up and get compared directly to Notre Dame.

But Alabama was not penalized for getting blown out in its conference championship game.

The weekly rankings releases really are such a sham. I don't have that strong a take on Miami over Notre Dame but letting Bama get off scot-free for that disgrace yesterday is bordering on unbelievable

The only conclusion is that the committee, like me, finds it absolutely hysterical that they can make everyone pants-shittingly furious about the Tide year after year.
December 7, 2025 at 5:37 PM
very reasonable imo
Specifically, CFP chair Hunter Yuracheck said Alabama's early 17-point lead over 5-7 Auburn (which it then blew) and then the "gutsy call there late in the game to go for it on fourth and two" and the late forced turnover were what impressed the committee.
