I'm a graying weeb-ass out of work Art/Game/Writing Jack-Of-All-Trades

I tend to follow folks in similar circles

I sometimes post NSFW stuff, but tag it when I can

it seems lame that obituaries and eulogies and shit only happen after a person is dead. you should get a funeral once in life where your loved ones have to say all that stuff to your face

I am both extremely flattered and horrified that someone not only created a YouTube video of my unfinished Disc Master Game Jam project, Metal Clip S, but they played it for almost 12 minutes straight!

I am so sorry that I did not allow that enemy to at least be killable.

It's fascinating how Rebecca Heinemann managed to make Out of this World run on the SNES. Interplay, publisher of the console versions and the company she co-founded, wouldn't pay for Super FX/static RAM/FastROM chips. "I made a game using polygons working on a 65816 with pure software rendering."

For the record, when the translation is distributed, you'll have:
* The translation itself, as a base
* Optional patches that can be applied on top of the translation, like this run button
* A combo patch that includes everything

Added code for a run button :) Hold B to run. It moves the menu from B to Start, but B still cancels.

Watched the hell out of the Streamline release in my early teens. "I'm the true fist of the north star", was an inside joke among some male peers to start light sparring

It's the kitchen sink of that culturally universal manly melo-action-drama genre that western and kung fu movies occupy
I don't get it. Everyone loves anime. Everyone loves Mad Max. NOBODY talks about Fist of the North Star. What the HELL is going on? It doesn't add up.

One year ago today I posted this miniature Toy Story 2 inspired photo I created using real figures and a cardboard box I fudged into a donation box.

One day I woke up and decided I wanted to do a stop motion animation. So I animated a simple run cycle, printed each frame and stuck them around my city ✨️
(Which btw, I felt super guilty about)

Here is your reminder to back up your work. I just had my laptop crash and now won't get out of bootloader. Trying to use Hirens. I haven't been in a living situation to make backing up easy, but still should've been better at it

I may lose a lot of work, including the crank prototype I just posted

Update on the "Train Arrives at Ciotat" side #indiegames project. In lieu of a crank controller, I coded it to crank on stick rotation. Added a 2nd level!

Main idea is game rewards scaring-the-crap-out-of-the-audience by maintaining 24FPS

I missed Alt.Ctrl 2026 deadline. Might try next year

Turning around a 3DO port of DOOM so quickly, for a stereotypical VG/tech "get rich quick ideas guy" with no source code, is a favorite nightmare dev story

PS I love her explanation around 27:00 about working around the 3DO's Fixed Point variables and hex values to act as Floating Point variables
Rebecca’s video telling her account of this story is what made me follow her on all my socials. She leaves behind an incredible legacy, yet always seemed so genuine and humble… even to her last day.

With the passing of Rebecca Heineman today, I wanted to share some images from her last, now forever unfinished project. She was working on amazing stuff right up until the end.

It was Dragon Wars remastered.

Jennell Jaquays was art directing.

Every time the placeholder excuse is told, thousands of game developers simultaneously roll their eyes ... generating enough natural energy for one data center
In gamedev, if you're using a placeholder asset, best practices involve marking it as placeholder so garishly and offensively clearly PLACEHOLDER that you can't possibly miss it. Also flagging that asset in the dev process so it can be identified quickly before the final build.
