Green Party - Nationalise the water companies, tax the super rich, invest in our public services, stop the genocide, lower bills.

The Telegraph - Greens are "hard left."
The real threat to labour isn't bumbling Corbyn - it's the greens.

Nigel Farage is the biggest charlatan in British political history.

And here's what his constitutents in Clacton really think:

Build council homes.

Treat people with dignity.

The threat isn't the migrants - it's the wealth of the super rich.

And the media outlets and the politicians who protect their power.

I am happy to see this - as someone who has long supported the good work of @southtynegreens.bsky.social from afar the idea that they might be a key part of dethroning Labour is amazing.

We are appalled at the way the Labour Government has conducted itself concerning the Welfare Reform Bill.

At a time when there is already deep class division, the Welfare Reform Bill proposed by the Government would subdivide another group of people: the have and have-nots of disabled people.
A joint statement from the North East Regional Green Party Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Group A joint statement from the North East Green Party Regional EDI group:
We are appalled at the way the Labour Government has conducted itself concerning the Welfare Reform Bill.

At a time when there is already a deep class division, the Welfare Reform Bill proposed by the Government would subdivide another group of people: the have and have-nots of disabled people. Some will still be in receipt of Personal Independence Payments (PIP), but future claimants will have no support from the Government's PIP scheme or get the health element of Universal Credit.

Let us make this loud and clear: PIP is not an out of work benefit. PIP actually helps a lot of disabled people to access work and suitable housing.

As Greens, we will continue to fight and advocate for sick and disabled people now, and those in the future.

“We’ve got a very sick nation…high poverty…a cost of living crisis. [We need] a completely different way of supporting and funding people to participate in society.”

@zoegarbett.bsky.social outlines how we should be running a welfare system.

And funding it?
Well….TAX THE RICH

"On these marches I feel hope for humanity.

And when people say I may lose money or work - I cannot agree with a genocide. You don't need to understand politics - you don't agree with a genocide. That's all you need"

This Government is making all the wrong choices. Cutting lifeline support payments to force disabled people back to work won’t work. It will just push more of our disabled friends and family into poverty and with less support.

Tax the super rich instead.

I spoke to #BBCPoliticsNorth this weekend on why we need to end austerity for councils and how @greenparty.org.uk policy and a wealth tax can help us do this.

Community groups have been plugging the gaps for long enough.

Now’s the time to invest in them.
nclgreenparty.bsky.social
Our councillor @nickhartleygreen.bsky.social was on #BBCPoliticsNorth this weekend, talking about why we need more money going into the hands of ordinary people and community groups. Only @greenparty.org.uk has the guts to introduce the tax reforms that will make this possible.

Remember all that fuss about Millionaires leaving the UK in their droves?
Well….turns out that wasn’t true. Who’d have thought…

Here’s James Meadway on the Macrodose podcast breaking down just how stupid the whole situation is.

No more excuses.
We want wealth taxes now.

After @nclgreenparty.bsky.social met with @foodandsolidarity.bsky.social to draft a motion opposing the cruel two-child benefit cap and NRPF*, I proposed it to Full Council today, seconded by Indy Cllr Tracey Mitchell.

It passed. Unamended.

Reform are planning to cut £300bil of public spending if they form a government.

Osbourne & Cameron cut £46bil….and look where that’s left the NHS, Council Housing, Welfare, Social Care, Schools….the list is endless.

Cutting £300bil would destroy the lives of millions of people in the UK.

Starmer is choosing weapons over improving peoples’ lives.

We could improve the living standards of huge sections of the UK with this money, but instead we seem to be building up arms for yet more war.

Let’s start choosing people over arms companies.

Stagecoach has slashed the no. 12 bus to just 1 per hour, without proper consultation. Residents in The Lonnen and surrounding streets, many of them elderly, have been left isolated and cut off.

This is unacceptable. Public transport is a lifeline, not a luxury.
