Which reminds me of a rather Pynchonian moment. In early 1970s Suva, Fiji, someone graffitied the street wall of a religious seminary with "Hendrix Is God!" The admin didn't paint over this blasphemy but instead carefully added another 'o' to 'God'.

That looks like a Ordnance QF 2-pounder which was pretty much obsolete by 1942 so I'm not buying this photo unless they stopped off in 1940 to pick one up from the Dunkirk beaches.
