It's surprising to me that separatists in Quebec and Alberta don't understand land title

Is it willfull blindness or stupidity?

Let's walk through this:

Alberta separates;
Crown land title is extinguished;
Indigenous land title remains;
Non-indigenous Albertans don't own land or resources;

The Alberta territory tries to raise an army and police force to take the the land, but has no money

Transfer pricing:

Put export tariffs on oil, gas, minerals and electricity

Then sell tariff free quotas from each province

Quota purchases are not tariffed; commodity prices will drop, dropping effective tariffs

This is clearly beyond the competence of our politicians

Openness, curiosity and intelligence are required to explore new ideas; these attributes usually diminish as we age

i keep saying this. all of what you're seeing is what our ancestors saw firsthand and survived. we've seen this happen too many times before. indigenous people live this.
he's defying the supreme court ruling, just like Andrew Jackson, his favorite president that he wishes he could wank off, did when he illegally removed the Cherokee people from their homelands

this is not new. you just haven't paid attention unless it affected you too.

@althiaraj.bsky.social you need to recognize treaties and indigenous land rights when discussing sovereignty

Under any scenario, unceded territory or treaty lands would be dealt with and the knot cannot be untied

Only morons would fail to recognize this (e.g. Smith/Trump)

Ira Wells of @thewalrus.ca is correct, we need more national institutions

Army corps of engineers could build transmission interties, electrify remote communities (allowing for water treatment facilities)

National wildfire service too, all included in our NATO spend

We’re lucky in the US to have so much clean drinking water that we flush our toilets with it.

But imagine turn on your tap and not knowing if the water is safe to drink. With Trump gutting all the environmental rules, that will be our future.
