Amy, queer cis Jew, she/her. Kidlit, reality TV, lady superheroes, lit theory, collage. All the #BlackWidow feelings. Watched 1400+ Law & Order episodes in a year. I'm sorry for who I am during Big Brother season. Asthma, TMJ, and #ActuallyOCD. So tired.
Pinned
Housekeeping note: I've upgraded my Complete Laws and/or Orders Spreadsheet (currently 1434 episodes) to include the FBIs (currently 331 episodes). Haven't started One Chicago but I figure it's only a matter of time. No one is proud right now. docs.google.com/spreadsheets...

production of The Muppet Show should not be dependent on petty vulgarities like “ratings” or “revenue.” it should be preserved as a vital function of american culture. it should have a taxpayer-funded budget rivaling the CIA

I finished my Lego T-Rex display! I bought a used terrarium, then ordered the white baseplates, the stanchions, and the "rope" from Lego. The spotlights and the terrarium background were from Amazon.

Minifigs were from my box of assorted Lego :-)

I'm not posting the obit or funeral info on here given the frequent reminders we've gotten about how this entire site is very public but I did link to the obit on facebook, and if anyone wants details feel free to DM, which is a part of this site I have basically never looked at but what if I start.
So I have been putting off posting this because I don't really know how to say it, but: my dad passed away last night. Hospice was amazing, his care team was amazing, he wasn't in pain, and I'm very glad he's no longer suffering and that I can finally officially miss him. I'm okay.

We have spent the past few days searching for a pharmacy that will properly dispose of my father's legally-prescribed morphine (a lot of places will take pills but not liquids), and while this is obnoxious, it's also making me feel a lot less guilty about taking my prescribed as-needed medications

[#MuppetShow spoilers]

Does anyone have a gif yet of Gonzo on his roller skates yelling "Dianne Wiest"? Because I feel like I use the Brooklyn 99 gif a lot when talking about her and I could use a new one.

What an inspired choice to invoke Scarlett Johansson Being Inappropriately Sexualized in a Comic Book Movie as something 25 years outdated and not (A) still a fucking issue, MARVEL and (B) something she's spoken about creeping her out as a teen who wanted to be known for her acting and not her tits
Yes, @mattyglesias.bsky.social has also argued, in The Atlantic (of course), that older men pursuing sexual relationships with sixteen year olds is not pedophilia.

I don’t think we appreciate exactly how many breadcrumbs Senator Wyden leaves for the public, or how often. He’s not an alarmist either, but someone with literal decades of experience with US intelligence.
This is how Sen. Ron Wyden clues the public into activity that he finds extremely alarming. He does a press release about a letter he sent to the director of the CIA that basically says, 'I want to make sure you saw the classified letter I sent early today.' www.wyden.senate.gov/imo/media/do...

Some people are asking what I want Schumer to do. He should be screaming over medical care and access to facilities. He should be going to detention facilities himself and putting his body on the line, as he did at the border in 2019. He should lean into stories about New Yorkers in detention. [1/4]

Well now, would you look at that? A massive, 4-YEAR-LONG study of NEARLY 30 MILLION people in France found that individuals who received a COVID-19 mRNA vaccine had a 74% LOWER risk of death from severe COVID-19 compared to unvaccinated individuals and ZERO increased risk of all-cause mortality.

one thing that would be cool, when prominent creators turn out to be terrible people, would be if we didn't have to go through this performative dance of insisting that their work was never good in the first place.
