Today marked 21 years (!) at my job, and I always try to do something to honor the great Jackie Robinson on this day. I’m so honored to have been able to discuss his legacy (and cleats) with Ken Griffey Jr., a hero of mine as a kid. #Jackie42 www.mlb.com/news/ken-gri...
From cleats to outreach, Griffey carries on Jackie's legacy
Some revolutions are big from the very start. When Jackie Robinson signed on the dotted line at Branch Rickey’s office on Montague Street in Brooklyn on August 28, 1945, there was no going back. It wa...

This exchange lends a ton of support to this New York Times story from January that the White House previously denied. Trump reportedly joked in 2024 that Stephen Miller wants to purge the country of anyone who doesn't look like him — and Trump fully supports what he is doing.
“He has the president’s complete trust,” said Mr. McCarthy. “Trump’s complained about everyone. Never him.”
Mr. Trump may not complain about Mr. Miller, but he does occasionally poke at his obsession with immigrants — a hostility that goes far beyond Mr. Trump’s. In one meeting during the 2024 campaign, Mr. Trump said that if it was up to Mr. Miller there would be only 100 million people in this country, and they would all look like Mr. Miller, according to a person with knowledge of the comment. Karoline Leavitt, Mr. Trump’s spokeswoman, denied the account.

This guy Yamamoto is so cool.

This "for you it was the most important game of your life, for me, it was Tuesday" celebration by Yamamoto after a playoff CG win, lmao.

I mean, this is obviously a rare talent, but also he’s untethered by establishment Dems wanting nothing to do with him. And that really works in his favor, since the vast majority of American people thinks the Democrat party is spineless and feckless.

Mamdani: "I just want to speak directly to the president. I will not be a mayor like Mayor Adams who will call you to stay out of jail. I won't be a disgraced governor like Andrew Cuomo who will call you to ask how to win this election. I can do those things on my own."

“year in exile” like she’d been sent to Elba, staring at the beach waiting for a rescue that might never come, instead of just keeping a low profile because she was sexting with a sentient catcher’s mitt

Great shot. This was my first year at the job, I loved Lima Time and that whole Dodgers team. (Adrian Beltre hit 48 homers!) The only time I recall seeing Lima in person, he gave up a grand slam at Shea to Dontrelle Willis, which was awesome in its own way. 😂

Jon SooHoo gave me this photo of Lima Time because I'm there in the black hat waiting to transcribe and publish Lima's postseason journal on the Dodgers website. Lima was something else. RIP

Totally on Doc. I agree with you, but also you had certain managers that were a bit less responsible with these guys.

I loved Mark Prior. I own a 2003 Prior All-Star jersey, he was just a perfect pitcher. Three years after this, I went to his last great game, 5 2/3 no-hit innings against a loaded Mets team. I hated that he got overworked to death, he absolutely could have been an all-time great.

I was looking at highlights of the Bartman inning (which today is the 22nd anniversary of) and caught this graphic. Mark Prior was at 110 pitches in the 8th and there wasn't even someone warming in the bullpen at the time. Just a totally unrecognizable era.

You know how you hear sometimes shockingly young kids using profanity or whatever, and it’s because of what they hear at home? Yeah, same principle. This sort of thing has been normalized, to the detriment of everyone.

This guy should be Senate Minority leader. This is excellent communication on what is actually happening. More of this, please.

Senate is back in session today.

1/ So a quick 🧵on where things are at on the shutdown.

You get a lot of propaganda and spin thrown at you, so I want to give you the real, behind-the-scenes tea.

Seriously, I think people should be out there openly calculating how many tens of thousands of people died in the past 14 months or whatever since Trump had Biden’s peace deal killed.

No one has ever deserved that prize more & that is an objective fact."
sportsangle.bsky.social
I had just memory holed that, like everyone else. But yeah, how many more people died in the past year so one terrible person could win an election to stay out of prison?

Apparently, they don’t hand out a Nobel Peace Prize to those who negotiated a ceasefire they had sabotaged a year ago just to get elected.

The Leftovers was such a banger of a show. It was a pretty good albeit very bleak book, the show was excellent.

It's the 14th anniversary of the Sudden Departure. How are you going to commemorate it?

I had a friend who went to St. John's at the same time as Ron Artest, now Metta World Peace. He said Artest used to walk around campus wearing his own jersey. And you know what, same thing as here, can't knock the hustle.

That doesn't even make sense, Watergate was an illegal hoax?

“The Ukraine impeachment (of me!) Scam was a far bigger illegal Hoax than Watergate,” Trump said.
