Each year, Canada's female athlete of the year is presented with the Bobbie Rosenfeld Award.
The namesake of that award was one of the greatest athletes in Canadian history.
Hockey, track and field, baseball, she exceled at nearly every sport.
This is her amazing story.

Great piece by Zadie Smith. When the right talks about classics or "Western" culture, these works are only important to the extent that it demonstrates their superiority, they have no interest in art in and of itself beyond that www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

We have upgraded our geomagnetic forecast today (12 November 2025) to the highest intensity level amid an ongoing solar storm.

Current predictions suggest that the activity will result in potentially the largest solar storm to hit our planet in over two decades.

While no one ever figured out what went wrong, for a hobby built on such risk, the final outcome was not really unexpected.

In a significantly weirder case, "Sleeping Lady with Black Vase" is a 1928 oil painting by Róbert Berény. It was lost in WWII, and considered looted by the Nazis and likely destroyed afterwards in the chaos... until someone recognized it as set dressing in the movie "Stuart Little."

Yes, really.

A decade ago, solar power barely registered in Hungary’s electricity mix — just 0.2% of generation. Back then, nuclear, coal, and gas dominated the grid.

Fast forward ten years and solar power now supplies around 1/4 of Hungary’s electricity — a remarkable transformation.

It resembles a perfume bottle and a Latin inscription on it suggests it had a religious function.

Diminutive fairy wombat poop. Tiny cubes under 2mm on each side.

These are egg sacs made by a spider in the family Theridiosomatidae.

They made yesterday’s hike special. Finding something I’ve never seen before is such a thrill.
