I would not call this a walkback at all, more like they are mansplaining to us that we are overreacting and what they want to do isnt that bad - still keep up the heat tho.
Discord is already starting to walk things back a little, so people should keep doing what they're doing (cancel Nitro, leave feedback/criticism, direct contact through support tickets/phone/email/etc)

If you take nothing else from Discord’s latest “trying some shit” I think it would be worth considering that any attempt by a service or company to push the idea that safety can be achieved with passive algorithms instead of direct and intentional human involvement is useless and dishonest.

A reminder: this is an Irishman with valid papers speaking about how he's being held in US concentration camps. If you don't have to go to the US, do not go to the US. "GDC" is not "have to go". One denial at the border is going to mark you for life, and that's the best of the bad outcomes.
