So, real talk. The imposter syndrome never really goes away either, it's like an old chronic injury that flares up again and gets really bad at certain times of the year, or if you've strained yourself. It creeps back when you don't expect it, and it's hard not to hear that little voice get louder.

Remember your favorite creator possibly might be struggling with imposter syndrome and doubt and this timeline sucks.. so if you find yourself thinking “wow I really relate to this persons work” or that persons work gives you joy, you should probably tell them. It’s a hard time to be a creative.

My recommendation to my students tomorrow is that if they get stuck in an uncomfortable Thanksgiving conversation with family, just start manually tearing apart the turkey to show off the theropod synapomorphies. I promise that will derail whatever the previous topic was.

Any concern that is legitimate ultimately turns into a tool not for pursuing actual equality, but for signifying to oppressors that you are in fact willing to put down a minority to look better, and there really isn't any other way to put it.

I think what makes the internet fun and interesting is that, at its best, it’s a very honest and fascinating window into other people’s lives and perspectives. It’s a kind of connection. It scratches that human itch to know each other a little bit more.

creators share 90% of their work for free, so what ends up for sale is a small fraction to gather income and support. treating creators like they aren't already sharing freely riles me up.

also: libraries exist, you can read books for free without stealing while supporting authors at the same time
