Last night's spooky season movie was Black Roses (1988), a Troma Team Release about demons from Hell forming a rock band and recruiting America's youth through devil music.

Tonight's spooky season movie was The Substance (2025), which I think of as a Jekyll & Hyde story by way of The Portrait of Dorian Gray, Sunset Boulevard, Re-Animator, and Brian Yuzna’s Society.

Double feature with: The Neon Demon.

Good overall, more fun than I expected! You're correct about face-palming. The end is telegraphed in the first 10 minutes but getting there is fun, & a there's a really nicely handled reveal. Some snark at toxic positivity/wellness. A few jump scares, in case those are a strong negative factore.

Tonight's spooky season movie was Mind Body Spirit (2023). Anya, a yoga video influencer, finds a book of rituals written by her grandmother, and shifts her video series to chronicling her path through the exercises in the book.

Tonight's movie was You Won't Be Alone (2022), set in nineteenth-century rural Macedonia. Described as about witches, the protagonists are serial skinchangers. Not so much a horror movie as an exploration of being human with occasional gory transitions.
