We *are* the Public Good. We are a country of ourselves, responsible for each other.

**raises hand**

It's because they're black?
The US Administration has banned Americans from *adopting babies* from much of the African continent.

Adopting.

Babies.

What trait do those babies have that, when they grow up as fully American adults, would make them a threat to our country in any form?
On that last post: I genuinely cannot think of any good-faith reason to bar international adoptions from those 39 countries. Under this new ban, consulates will refuse adoption visas for any baby from Cuba, Haiti, Venezuela, Nigeria, or any of the 39 other countries.

It's Sunday night, and the "Tom Nichols Rolodex of Troll Talking Points" is being thumbed through while Mr. Nichols himself enjoys two fingers of Oban 12.

We have an incredible paperbacks only shop by my house. Unfortunately for me, the overwhelming majority of them are mmpbs, but that doesn't stop me from going in every week just to make sure!
This. I had a bunch of beloved MMPB books on my bookcase that I purchased in the past that I have slowly been replacing with the larger PB's lately because I can't actually read the smaller ones any longer. (Eyesight AND hand strain. Boooo.)

Happy Hanukkah to all. I lit a candle in support of the victims, and the heroes, of the terrible shooting in Australia.

I know we're all hating Netflix right now, but "The Beast in Me" was so, so good.

Claire Danes and Matthew Rhys are two of the most best actors alive right now.

Worth re-reading this seminal 2017 essay from Ta-Nehisi Coates, in light of everything that's happened since. To say it still stands up would be an understatement. A genuine tour de force. Very impressive.

I wrote about the Olivia Nuzzi saga and how it reflects the voyeurism and indignity that drives so much of our media—social and otherwise.

This is an essay about elite excess, The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, and the crisis of our democracy.

The lurid details of Olivia Nuzzi's transgressions and the popularity of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives derive from the same culture of voyeurism.

@mikethompson.house.gov I agree Mike. Time for you to work up, or have someone help you work up impeachment proceedings immediately. I want you on every Bay Area TV station screaming about this from now until the end of the year
Every Congressperson who does not file impeachment articles ASAP, or even just start talking about it, owns everything that happens to the people Trump targets. Their complicity and enablement of his abuse takes the protection of America away from them.
Trump, continued: "What the Somalian people have done to Minnesota is not even believable. It’s not even believable. And a lot of it starts with the governor. A lot of it starts with Barack HUSSEIN Obama, because that’s when people started coming in... They want to kiss our country good night."

I'm sorry, but everyone whether or not they are vaccinated against Hep B are 100% likely to die at some point.
Children vaccinated against hepatitis B at birth are 22% less likely to die from any cause, according to to study of medical records from 1999-2018.

Why wouldn't a parent want that vaccine for their baby? Why is a CDC vaccine panel considering taking it away?
