We can keep building a ballroom in the White House but even “essential” government workers are told to kick rocks.

Make it make sense.

We don’t have the funds for basic health care, but when it comes to tearing apart families and terrorizing communities, the budget is unlimited. Shameful, chaotic shutdown.

I’m not trying to SKATE around the subject, but is it MADDENing to think that a recent buyout could have a MASSive EFFECT on the video game industry?

Especially if they've already been laying off workers and are taking on more debt?

SIMS--seems that way to mE At my desk.

Unfortunately, it really isn't that surprising: these robber barons are going to lay off workers in the places with the highest costs of living (and thus labor), highest healthcare costs, and scant labor laws. That describes North America perfectly.

It's past time we fight back.
Speaking to The Game Business, Satvat said that "over 70%, and in some years 75%, of the layoffs have been in North America".

He noted that while "overall employment in the industry has actually increased" since before the pandemic, developers working in the US have been facing noticeable cuts in their workforce – particularly in AAA studios.

We're not on strike yet, but we will be if starbucks doesn't start listening to baristas soon! We're ready to do what it takes to win fair pay, consistent hours, and resolve outstanding ULPs in our workplaces!

We want cauldrons filled with fair wages and employees' health and safety being taken seriously but instead we’re stuck with dangerous warehouses and on-site medics prioritizing quotas over bodies.

It’s so cool how all of your friends at a particular studio can get laid off, super cool.

Unions are the only way forward to preserve our industry. The bosses are burning it all down for a quick buck.

Corporations keep wages low while prices soar. We’re not asking for luxury, we’re fighting for survival.

You know what’s a hit and goes platinum every time?

Returning to the bargaining table to actually treat workers like “partners” and invest in fair wages and staffing.
sbworkersunited.org
Brian Niccol needs to stop taking Starbucks backward and settle a fair union contract so we can all move forward together.

In these tough times, Michigan’s home care workers remind us what collective power looks like.

32,000 workers fought, won, and reclaimed their union. 💜💪 #UnionStrong #UnionsForAll

It’s clear things are going Backwards at Starbucks under Brian Niccol's leadership. But this has only motivated us more to keep organizing and doing whatever it takes—including striking if necessary—to win a fair union contract!

Same paycheck. Higher prices. This is why we organize.

Trump wants to rule like a king—eroding our democracy, terrorizing our communities, all while giving tax cuts to greedy corporations.—but we will not be silenced.

On Oct 18, union members and allies from all races and backgrounds will mobilize nationwide. Join us: https://seiu.co/OCT18 #NoKings

Customers, allies, and major orgs across the country pledge to NOT cross a picket line if our union goes on strike. Starbucks - do the right thing for your baristas and come back to the bargaining table so we can finalize our contracts! (TY to Diane Cantave from LI Jobs With Justice!)

From hitting the streets in car caravans and rallies, visiting elected officials, and organizing, gig drivers won the right to a union and to bargain for better pay & benefits and better working conditions! ¡Si se puede!

Big congratulations to California gig drivers! A decade ago they launched their effort for the right to form a union and faced lots of obstacles but they kept going.

Social security workers who live check to check will be totally fine skipping meals while ensuring some of the people who need their assistance the most receive benefits.
stratorgcenter.bsky.social
Veterans who ensure their peers get benefits and health care are fine sacrificing paychecks after already sacrificing for this country.

Air traffic controllers, a famously low stress job, will be 100% focused on their jobs and not thinking about the pay that they may or may not receive for the work they do.

Federal workers are tired of the pain inflicted on them from the DOGE/Project 2025 agenda. Now the Trump shutdown is jeopardizing the essential services they keep running every single day.

Federal workers aren’t pawns in political games—they make our country strong.

the 804 is making us think of dolly this morning
lily tomlin, dolly parton and jane fonda arm in arm from the movie "9 to 5" with lyrics from the single of the same name

"Workin' nine to five, what a way to make a livin'
Barely gettin' by, it's all takin' and no givin'
They just use your mind and they never give you credit
It's enough to drive you crazy if you let it"

workers struggling to make ends meet while executives give lip service to the value of employees but not the wages or staffing that show it.

they won't even come back to the bargaining table.

they won't even reimburse baristas for the dress code THEY implemented!

Workers in Richmond, VA are done waiting around for Starbucks to come back to the bargaining table! We’ve elected hundreds of Strike Captains across hundreds of states and we’re not afraid to use them! It’s your move, Starbucks.

losing health care can't be that bad, right?

it isn't like medical debt is a problem.

not like people are already making choices between soup, surgery, and staying housed, right?

not like businesses would look to exploit people who *checks notes* want to live?

*continues checking notes*

oh no.
Screenshot from More Perfect Union stating "Vulnerable patients are getting signed up for medical credit cards -- in some cases while they're still on anesthesia.

These cards are creating a new frontier of medical debt.

Some patients are even getting sued over debt from cards they don't remember signing up for."
