Great to see ex Southampton trainees sharing their research 😀 Thanks Anna.
Really enjoyed presenting my thesis research on Boys’ Views of Peer-on-Peer Abuse at the DECP conference last week.

Particularly enjoyed the discussion afterwards - thank you for sharing your thoughts and ideas.

Prof Stephen Gorard on how structural divergences in the education system create inequality from the moment children enter EYFS.

A tour de force on the need to challenge fundamental assumptions that shape allocation of school places.

‘Structural inequalities and oppressive assumptions within the education system harm human dignity’

‘Seeing oneself reflected and represented in the values and aspirations of the school system is indispensable for the development and preservation of self-esteem and dignity’.
Prof Diane Reay’s stark & powerful caution on the impact of inequalities on children and young people’s happiness, sense of safety & feeling valued and wellbeing in schools.

Poverty has increased in the UK by 20% since 2024. CYP are living in Dickensian levels of poverty.

I don't think "mental health conditions are being over-diagnosed" but that "real suffering is being over-medicalised". These are very different things. The former tries to justify cutting support, but the latter does not: it acknowledges real suffering but asks for different (psychosocial) provision

TLDR: predatory journals are publishing AI written fake systematic reviews of "paper shaped objects" with fake AI "reference shaped lists" Multiple self referenced layers of hallucinated rubbish. #posttruth
Let me tell you a story. Perhaps you can guess where this is going... though it does have a bit of a twist.

I was poking around Google Scholar for publications about the relationship between chatbots and wellness. Oh how useful: a systematic literature review! Let's dig into the findings. 🧵

NEW The psychology of belonging
Psychology explains why children want to belong. It cannot explain what they must inherit in order to do so. Belonging is linguistic as much as it is emotional.
