Forbes, read the Denver Accord.

The US is forced to live — and die — with more than 400 million guns. We know what we must do to reduce firearm injuries:
Licensing
Registration
Ban high-capacity magazines
Mandatory training
Accountability for unsecured guns.

There was minimal news coverage of this mass shooting incident in Brooklyn last night. Police officers found 4 boys and 2 girls with gunshot wounds. The victims are between 15-17 years old. Police are still searching for the suspects accused of shooting.

On the first night of Hanukkah, Mark and I are thinking of all the families impacted by the mass shooting today in Sydney, Australia.
As Hanukkah begins, I’m thinking of the victims of the horrific attack in Sydney. The Jewish community has always been resilient, but this shows we all must continue standing together against antisemitism.

Gabby and I hope everyone celebrating Hanukkah can find peace and light.

Gentle reminders about what not to say & what to say to survivors:

Don’t say the victim is in a better place or was at the wrong place at the wrong time.

Say that you are here for the survivor, or that you don’t know what to say but you want to help. Say “you aren’t alone.” Hold their hands.

The anti-Semitic mass shooting in Australia will cause a national conversation and policy change. We know this because the 1996 Port Arthur massacre led to significant restrictions on guns.
The shooting at Brown will do nothing. We know this because it occurred on the anniversary of Sandy Hook.

If you think passing tough effective gun laws is hard, try picking out your child’s tombstone.

That’s much, much harder but something Americans are forced to do every day because of guns.

We know because that’s what we had to do.

They're keeping shelter in place all night long in Providence, and I haven't heard any plan for how they're going to help the students stuck in buildings or the library basement without food, water, a place to sleep, etc. Not even a mention. That's bothering me a lot. #BrownShooting
